10 minutes of nothing, 10 minutes I can’t get back. 😢

I will have zero problems removing the  daily auto scam fee when I go to guest services .
Note to Cruise Lines ….pay your employees not my job!
I will tip only when I receive service above and beyond what is normally expected .
There are already expectations when you originally Pay for the cruise .
These auto fees are pretty much the same as Las Vegas Resort fee scam .
All they do is add to the Corporate bottom line , another revenue stream!

At first I thought I was hitting rewind because he kept saying the same thing over and over.  In short, take off the gratuities and pay them at the end to those who actually serve you.

Behind the scenes workers should never be tipped.

But do they “actually” get that money? Or does the cruise line simply guarantee them a set income and the “gratuities” we pay, help the cruise line offset their costs? 🤔

First, let's be 100% clear here. The daily service fees are not gratuities or tips. Could we please stop calling these fees "daily gratuities" since they are not? The cruise lines are lying and trying to con the guests. These fees are a backdoor profit center for the cruise lines. A gratuity is a voluntary payment, gift, or benefit given to an employee by a customer as a tip. Without any obligation or exchange of equal value. It is considered a token of appreciation, distinct from contractual wages. And because under the Contract of Passage, these fees are 100% completely optional, if removed, it is the same as the cruise line canceling your cruise because the final payment was late. It is allowed, and just the guests doing what they can under the legal contract.

It is not for the behind-the-scenes crew who you never see, it is not for management, and it is not to be transferred from your ship to another within the fleet. It is not to be used to pay expenses the ship is contracted to pay for, like air travel for the crew or uniforms. It is not for the cruise line to take an administration fee.

Have been cruising for a very long time now. For most of my life,  I still tip the same way I saw my father tip on the SS United States when I was a young boy. In cash directly given to the person who provided the service.

Look, I’ve always struggled with gratuities on cruises. Here’s my honest theory:
Cruise lines don’t fly the American flag because they don’t want to pay the heavy U.S. taxes that come with it. So they register under flags from countries that don’t have a tipping culture.
With that in mind… why would I disrespect their flag and their culture by forcing American-style tipping on them?
The corporations are straight-up manipulating U.S. passengers (who are used to tipping) into paying automatic gratuities. But me? I want to be respectful of ALL cultures. If the ship is flying the flag of a country that doesn’t believe in tipping, then I’m not going to do the automatic gratuities. Their country doesn’t do it, so I don’t want to disrespect the flag they’re sailing under.
Instead, here’s exactly what I do:

I always put cash in an envelope for my room steward — they take care of me and my wife every single day.
If I have the same server every night at dinner, I’ll tip them personally.
But if it’s open dining and I get a different server every night? Nope. They don’t know me, they don’t know my drink order, there’s no “above and beyond” service. No tip.
Same with bartenders — if I go to the same bar regularly and they get to know me during the cruise, I’ll tip them. Otherwise, no.

I’ve talked about this with a lot of people and almost nobody has ever thought about the flag the ship is flying or how the company is using it to squeeze tips out of Americans.
What do you think? Am I overthinking this or does it actually make sense? Drop your thoughts below — I’d love to hear them!

The daily gratuity only tips the people that service evey passenger.  When you go to the bar, the spa and specialty dining that is not something that every passenger does.  You don't just tip the people you interacted with the most.  The auto gratuities go to your dining service staff, the cabin  attendant.  The people that worked for you depend on that gratuity.  Youre talking about people who work long days for very little pay.

It's a scam!

A wast of my time. You said the same thing over and over again but said nothing~~~

More AI garbage. Same photos over and over again, and some photos don't even make any sense to what being said by the narration which sounds like an AI bot. Thumbs down!
