I woke up this morning with the words " Charles Spurgeon". I had heard the name before, however, he has not really been a part of my spiritual journey. I know very little about him and wondered why his name was brought so sharply to my attention. I am now on a 'fact-finding' mission about this man and am interested in finding out why he sprung to my mind with such unequivocal clarity, especially since there was and is,as far as I can tell, nothing in my experiences or thoughts that would bring him to my attention. I am now trying to put together, through his biography, the pieces and hope to make sense of this , particularly at this stage of my journey of transition...
Wow. Puts things in perspective. When I see how hard Spurgeon worked, I am convicted of how lazy I am! Help me to tireless serve you with all that I am Lord!
1892 year my grandfather was born, reference in my life only 64 now. He was a wounded vet from WW1, calvary Captain. He was a lieutenant with Patton in the last calvary expedition under Black Jack Pershing into Mexico.
Wow, thank you, Pastor John, for this powerful, insightful and well-presented exposition of Charles Spurgeons' life. I like that fact that you zeroed in on two points or attributes that characterized his life. That is, the convergence of his love for the God-centered, Christ-exalting, Bible-centered truth and his zeal for rescuing people, all culminating in an avalanche of energy with the consciousness that he was not carrying out the work of the ministry on his own but through the strength of the Lord Jesus. That is very useful in summing the life of this "Prince of Preachers". It it is also very useful in helping me to carve my own path... I now know, to a large extent, why my attention was drawn to him in this season of my life...May God bless you greatly in the next season of your life!!!
Use a hard copy bible when you can. Its a fantastic witness if only to your kids. Easier to read, easier to absorb, will never be changed in an update. And a fantastic witness to everyone around you. And removes the all to often (at least in too many churches i have seen) the temptation to go elsewhere. ( apps, messages etc.. )
🙏 Pray to the Lord! "Jesus, thank you for loving me & for dying on the cross to save me from my sins & from hell, forgive me of all my sins, I believe in you, & now Jesus, I invite you & receive you as my Lord and Savior, Amen ❤"
Wooow, what wonderful wonderful testimony. I enjoyed this very much. Spurgen was indeed something else, but this man is special too. Thanks for posting/sharing this truly moving testimony for/of both men. Praise our precious Lord, He knows who is His. : )
