Today I'll be adding a controversial species to my pool pond ecosystem to help take care of a major problem I've been having. But along the way I'll also be addressing some issues with our bait farms, algae, and even a missing species that might have escaped into the backyard pond. I'll be trapping and netting for crawfish, stocking new species into the pond, and even swimming alongside the fish to get an up-close look at the pond's inhabitants. There's a lot to do and even a special announcement, so make sure to watch until the end!

You should introduce just a ton of snails and shrimp for the algae and id introduce them at night time too while ur fish arnt hunting so they have time to find hiding spots

You should get the bug swatter light, it's beautiful. It's a bug light with a weed whacker, and all the bugs get smacked into the water.

Build another pool next to it and make a connection between them so fish can swim to the other pool

Would love to see the second predator pool pond! As for type, I think it could be really cool to get a really small large mouth bass and see how big you can get them to grow.

Koi are also a type of grass carp like the gold fish, maybe you could find one in a natural color and one that's sizeable to not be bothered by the other fish

You should add some screen or mesh to the low side gaps so that water can drain but keep everything else in

Every time I see this pool pond new video I get little kid giddy about it. Just to see a guy doing neat things, just making a sweet pond with little fishy friends.

Keep these videos coming, for all us men who would want to do this but cannot physically or financially.

I'm in a wheelchair and bought this little plastic wand toy, called a Bug View by Carson. I bet you could find em at a zoo or a science museum. No more using a dixie cup and sheet of paper to catch; mostly house flies and moths. Don't have to worry about balancing to snatch a fly off the windowsills anymore to flick outside into any spider webs. Just now I am realizing that's free protein snack for the fishtank. But, we only have some goldfish and a suckermouth now a days, picky eaters. But dang, I wish I was 2 years earlier to realizing every day I'd have a nice fish snack or two in the house for the tank pals before they went on with their own life journeys.

Great setup! If you get a surface skimmer, definitely wrap the intake basket in fine mesh netting so your baby fish and crawfish don't get sucked into the filter! A floating pond skimmer like the Oase SwimSkim would work awesome for this type of pool pond setup.

Best bet foe buffalo is to go cast net below dams or small spillways with moving water . Ps the bronze goldfish will all turn golden when they mature and are easy to catch on worms . The rosie reds are just albino fathead minnows so technically they are native 😉 lol

8:49 in my experience goldfish actually do surprisingly well with bluegill and other sun fish, they tend to just ignore each other rather than a predator/prey thing

The smaller and faster worms in your mealwormfarm seem to be Alphitobius diaperinus, they would not kill each other and can also be used as foodsource.
I recommand you breeding Zophobas morio. You just need a >30 liter (8 gallon) tank or bucket and fill it with at least 10cm soil and dead wood. give them some compost or oatmeal on top, keep a spot wet and they will easily breed like crazy (and are a lot bigger).

I don't think the problem here with establishing a strong baitfish population is not catching enough, but that there's too many other fish like the bluegill; since there's so many other larger fish, not only are the baitfish going to get eaten, but they also can't compete with the larger fish for food such as bugs. I think establishing a strong baitfish population is completely plausible but you might need to remove some of the other fish in order for that to happen.
