Ever since I first played FarCry3 I've never forgotten "The definition of Insanity"

I literally finished FC3 today, after 14 years I play it again and I enjoyed it so much. There is something special in these game and you can't describe it until you play it!

I absolutely loved the Jason´s character arch.. being this scared, arrogant brat turning slowly into someone who enjoys killing of other people.. brutal.
One of the few games when the credits rolled in, I was just sitting there, contemplating, empty

There’s another hallucination scene which gives you more backstory to the characters and their vacation it’s in the cave with all your friends

Farcry2 will always be my favorite,  I absolutely love the way it feels to play.

I recently played it through on the hardest difficulty and it impressed me by feeling like a entirely different kind of game, from an apocalypse now/ rambo simulator to a hard as nails survival game that has you sneaking everywhere, and using entirely novel routes ,to avoid combat because you are just too squishy to survive any other way.

The fire on that game is a fantastic as well.

The combat is not as smooth , and the enemies are way too bullet spongy for my taste , but I keep coming back because it is such a beautiful game .

African jungle sounds as you crawl through the bushes everywhere is such a vibe.

The map you have to physically hold while you drive.

The degradation of your weapons , amd the only one that will never break taking up a permanent weapon slot that you can carry openly as you sneak would also interest you, even though the melee combat is not that great ,it is a viable tactic for taking out enemies at close range when your gun jams or breaks .

The sound of a truck engine , reving up and chasing you through the bushes trying to run you tf over, not sweetly drive up in front of you and then get out to start stormtrooper shooting at you like the enemies in later entries in the series.

Or the last thing you hear is the thump of the grenade launcher and its a immediate game over screen .

You need to play Farcry2 next.

I'm going to play it again.

Best story.  Best villain.  Best music.

Mechanics have been tuned better since then..  but who cares?

I remember my tactic on the southern islands...go high and use sniper shots.

Ive replayed this game so many times at this point that I basically have my pattern down for the run. Clear the prologue. When the game grants you freedom to do whatever, clear every outpost and tower in the top half of the map. Progress through the game until you get the glider/parachute, clear all of the outposts and towers on the remaining section of the map. Collect various relics, letters, Memory cards, and clear out the side quests. Then lock in, maxed skill tree and weapons and finish the game. The finale always feels so satisfying as a result because I end up committing to 100%ing the game more or less. Such a goated game. I love the sequels, but 3 always hooks me in.

I don’t think anyone hyped up far cry three by saying vaas was in the game a whole lot and I personally didn’t think the “boss fights”were underwhelming. I thought for the story The game was telling it was worth it. Did you miss out on the whole moral descent of Jason basically becoming the thing he set out to destroy In Far Cry 3, Vaas Montenegro serves as Jason Brody’s dark psychological mirror. They share a parallel character arc; both were transformed from innocent islanders into ruthless killers by Vaas's sister, Citra. While Jason fights to save his friends, Vaas acts as a catalyst for Jason's descent into madness. Chase: Rather than just a standard rivalry, Vaas’s repeated captures of Jason read like a twisted spiritual mentoring. Vaas continuously attempts to test Jason's resolve and expose the hypocrisy of Jason pretending to be a hero while slaughtering hundreds of people. Their relationship finally ends when Jason tracks Vaas down and kills him in a drug-induced, hallucinatory dream sequence, representing Jason fully embracing the "monster" inside him to survive the island. I genuinely think there’s so much more to the story you’re missing out on. I wouldn’t say it’s nostalgia It’s vaas as a character and a villain, and the overall story the game tells. No far cry  game has a story this psychological or well written that’s the reason it gets so much hype.

Far cry 3 was the first game to show me that you can have massive spaces of uninhabited area and still have it not feel empty

It’s always bugged me how open world games are often so overly populated to the point where there isn’t actually any wilderness but farcry 3 and 2 in a way are some of the best examples I can think of besides something newer like mud runner or snowrunner

My favorite memory in 3 was when I was going to liberate an outpost and right as I'm approaching the entrance a tiger saunters inside, kills all but one of the pirates, and I sneak around and snipe the last one, granting me a no detection liberation.

The opening scene where the intro transitions into the cage and then the escape was absolutely mind blowing to me at the time.

the game gives so much nostalgia of the 2010's, I used to watch ton of farcry 3 videos on YouTube, and was amazed by the realistic graphics like water, vegetation

I hated the meter in far cry 5 as well. I ended up missing quests because it would jump to story mission because i filled up the meter without even trying. I like to play games at my own pace.

Vaas is in my top 3 favourite villains in video games, as well as Michael Mando absolutely nailing the role! Jumping back into the game again after almost 14 years!
