So true about the "only cat syndrome." I had a cat who LOVED any human he came into contact with, so I mistakenly assumed he would have the same reaction to other animals. So not true. He hated anything with fur on four legs. I couldn't believe it because he was such a sweetheart, but his inner devil came out once another animal crossed his path.

My cat went nuts when I added a window perch. She watches birds for hours now and barely bothers my plants. Vertical space really is the game changer for apartment cats.

Great tips for indoor cats! playing with your cat is the most important thing you can do for them.

I loved this! I wanted to leave the tip for people to check out second hand sites for cat toys and other items. The cost can really rack up and we all know how they can turn their nose up at the things we buy with the best intentions. People are selling those failed attempts on with a huge discount. A quick wash with some sanitising fluid and you’ve got your cat something new, saved yourself money, helped some other cat owner make some lost money back and helped keep something out of a landfill.

It’s weird with the cat we have now. We put a cat hammock near the window, thinking he’d love it. He barely goes near the windows, has no interest in looking out the windows at all. He was outside for 7 months before we brought him in, so I thought he’d enjoy looking outside but he doesn’t care about it at all

My cats look at me like I have three heads when I try to play with them. When they were kittens they'd still get into it, but now that they're getting old, they just lay down and watch me wave the toy around like a jackass. Sometime I can get the male cat to chase me from room to room if I play peek-a-boo, But it's more a curious "whatcha doin'?" than stalking and hunting.

They like to toss their little toys up in the air on their own and then chase them around, they wrestle each other, and they play stalk what I can assume are imaginary fall leaves (their favorite thing to watch through the window). My wife and I are not welcome to join in.

Can you please do a video on how you keep clean and maintain your home when having a cat? What cleaning products do you use especially for your bathroom, countertops, floors, kitchen, etc? I've heard certain chemicals can be toxic to cats. Thanks in advance.

playing with your cat is the most important thing you can do for them. I got a new cat that is very shy on Halloween, and she got us to me and the space so fast that she even cuddled with me on the 3rd night.

We let our cats go out on our balcony. They never jump up on the railing. Instead they look out between the wooden lattice and watch the squirrels and birds that live in a really big tree in front of our deck. It is better than a cat condo and they sleep on the chair cushions or under the tablecloth over the table . They also have three different cat scratching boards which they both use all day long and totally love. Sometimes they sleep on them. They are so well mannered and never scratch anywhere else. We also leave our front door cracked a bit so they can go out on the front porch of our second story apt. They have never peed on anyone’s stuff outside. The neighbors know them and say hi if they are out there. My cats are pretty entertained by their environment…outdoors. They run up and down the stairs pretending to hunt. They never run off but will walk with us if we go to the garbage area.

Some great catifjction tips - with the laser I’ve heard that it’s really unsatisfying can be frustrating to no be able to actually catch something I’m sure may have been Jackson Galaxy that said it it doesn’t satisfy that internal cat. I love the catio idea even a small one better than nothing at all. Especially for indoor only cats.

Yes, I do rent but I have my own personal handyman so I am going to have him build Tails a catio on wheels so that it can go in and out with need. If it is moveable I can also prove to the apartment manager that it is not attached to the building.
As I continued I thought why not create my own wall to put all of those fancy wall cat climbers on. I trust Joe to make it stable enough for a charging 11 lb bullet. I'm excited I can't wait.

Can you make a video for renter friendly vertical places? We're not allowed to drill holes in the wall.

Thank you so much for this! I’ve had a cat before but I worry that I could’ve given them a better life and I’m about to get another cat and I’m just trying to see everything that I can plausibly do to make sure they have a good life that I might’ve missed in the past. I think your videos have been the biggest help for that thus far and I’m hoping after a few more I feel more confident in know how best to care for a kitten.
