I can’t stop returning to Fable. I’ve already reviewed The Lost Chapters on PC, but now that I’ve finished covering every other Fable game of major consequence, I wanted to revisit this seminal classic yet again — this time, in its Anniversary edition. There are some contentious changes in this version (to say the least), but for the most part, I found it to be a faithful remaster of a timeless classic.

Fable TLC strikes a good balance between being long enough to be satisfying and ending soon enough to leave you wanting more.

I was a diehard fable fan as a kid. I grew up on game boy color and an old Genesis starting out. This was the first video game that just blew my mind and made me realize what games were capable of. I honestly don’t think we would’ve gotten red dead two without the first fable.

Over last two days I watched your reviews of Fable games, hyping myself for this franchise that I was avoiding for years and today I finally started my first serious/dedicated playthrough of Fable Anniversary, right around the time you uploaded this video! Way back in the day I messed up my leg and had to have surgery. On the way back from the hospital the evening of the day they cut me we stopped and I picked up an XBox and a few games as I was gonna be laid up for awhile. One of those games was Fable. I spent months playing that game. I loved the animation style, the humor, the gameplay, the sense of this being an interesting first game for a franchise. Fable Lost Chapters cemented that hope. Fable 2 shook it a bit. Fable 3 was a mega disappointment. That Fable Cart game was...can we all agree THAT game never happened?

Played Fable before TLC was available in Switzerland. Loved it that you had to let the credits roll until the end to be able to continue playing. 😂❤

Playing the Fable trilogy once a year. Can't wait for the playground games Fable too

I just completed my 15 run of Fable 1 (I used to do 1 every year) as I wanted to complete both 1 and 2 toset the mood for the new game. 1 has by far the most endering story, villain and spells, while 2 has the more snapy combat, better companion and improved "life and social mechanics". Despite liking 2 a lot, 1 is the epic fantasy adventure that sticks with you and I cannot wait for my kid to be a bit older to share it with him

I swear you need to make a video/short explicitly comparing the anniversary and lost chapters editions. I haven't seen such a clear and thorough comparison of the two (and I looked for one when I played TLC earlier this year). I just worry your video wouldn't get picked up in the algorithm for those looking precisely for that comparison.

Personally, I chose the TLC over anniversary given the warmer colour palette matching the vibe of Albion more than the colder palette found in the anniversary, however I can see why you'd like it more given the snow areas are some of your favourites.

I'll be greatly looking forward to your Fable 2027 review once it comes around :)

Watching these videos makes me want to do another playthrough. Fable came out when I was 12 and I played it obsessively as a teenager but it's been a minute since I picked it up.

Awesome review and yes after playing anniversary on PC i cant believe they kinda made changes on lighting and feel but loging in for the first was core nostalgia!! And man i was hooked with it playing the original control scheme and using the money dupe glitch way too late in the game was fun.

Have you ever tried having a big fan base crowd following you and then taking part at the fist fights?

That was my 2004 kidbrain idea of completing the knothole glade boxing master without getting hit once, because he gets litteraly destroyed by the crowd xD but don't use bandits. Although their weapons count as 2-3 hits instead of one, they will probably kill the npcs

I love Fable because of its replayability. You can make different choices and even use glitches and bugs. 🐛🐞🐜Fable is very buggy. But, most of them make the game fun.
In Fable Anniversary, you can just punch Whisper and walk out of the Arena for the extra 10,000 gold. You can get the Sword Of Aeons before the 🐝Wasp Queen quest. You can even get Ronok The 🪓Axe without marrying Lady Grey. You can donate to The Temple Of Avo, get all of its rewards, receive tons of good points while only actually donating 6️⃣ gold pieces. None of these require mods. There are instruction videos on how to do them.
