Hey everyone! I decided to draw every day for 7 days in my sketchbook. It was a pretty fun challenge, and I ended up filling quite a few sketchbook spreads. Let me know - how often do you draw?

I had to re-upload this because there was no audio - it's fixed now though!

How often do you draw or sketch?

In 2025 I challenged myself to do a lil doodle every. single. day. And I did it. I'm super proud of it, but it also drained me SO much that I'm taking it easier now. I try to sketch/paint multiple days a week, preferably every day, but if the mood isn't there I won't be forcing myself.

We all watched it anyway, time to watch it again 😂

I finished my sketchbook today, in just over 2 months, the fastest I've ever done. I had a lot of fun

I definitely do not draw everyday, let alone in a sketch book 😭 I've had this massive chunky sketchbook in my desk for years, literally years. I don't draw in it very often. I'd like to try and use it up completely by the end of the year though. Wish me luck. I'm roughly a 3rd of the way through.

I’ve been drawing every day for over two years now for the daily doodle diary art challenge and whilst quick art isn’t amazing, it really does help the pen feel more natural in your hand by creating frequently and to not feel scared to create 🥰❤️

I’m totally the same when it comes to having a better time and feeling better about my work when I’m not filming versus when the camera is watching!

I've been drawing a page a day in my sketchbooks for over a year now and my art has improved, I'm loving it ❤

just to let you know, my cat was watching this video with me like it was one of those cat tv bird feeding lives so that serves as a testament to your birds in days 1&2🤣👌🏼

upd: he watched the watercolour bears too

If you feel pressured to use the sketchbook you have because of waist. You could also make give aways. ^^

Not every artist like the same type of paper in they're sketchbook, so I'm sure you would have other artists happy to take them from you.

If you really want the challenge do it. 👍 All the sketchs are amazing 🤩

But it's an idea for you, if you needed it😊

My drawing skills aren't great. But lately I've been doodling/painting a lot of lumpy blobs with tiny tophats in my sketchbook.

It helps work that brain muscle, helps enforce the habit of pulling out the sketchbook, and helps me improve my drawing skills. Even if mostly in lumpy form.

And it's so. Much. Fun. I name my blobs things like "Blurbison" and "Flurbison" and have a grand old time with it. Which is the whole point. My goal isn't to improve, my goal is to have a silly good time. The improvement comes with brush/pen mileage.

Also unsuspected side effect of daily diary doodles: Its a diary...it will remind you what happened that year. When i was once rushed to hospital with an evil gall stone gotten stuck somewhere the doctor asked me if i had any similar symptoms like that before... and initially i went "nope" ..but i had brought my sketchbook ..because...every day right? :D and as i was looking back through the pages it became evident that yes ..yes i HAD had similar symptoms half a year earlier - because i had drawn myself being miserable that day! Outcome of surgery that day actually changed because of that little stupid doodle reminding me.

ugh, so feel the "its nice/thick/watercolor paper so i cant waste it on less serious sketches" kind of thing

Trust this old lady and use what you have Jess, Royal Talens isn’t going anywhere ( I love them too ) and you’ll always have the opportunity to buy them ( I love Gwartzmans for price & selection) , rather use anything you have cotton or cellulose because the biggest value difference between these sketchbooks is all in the Artists head, I’m speaking from experience here honey, use what you have on hand first. Cheers❤❤

I’ve been having the hardest time getting myself to draw in my sketchbook! Your videos always help me not feel so alone about my relationship with my sketchbook. I get so stuck on what to draw !

oh my GOD the bears are so cute. they really reminded me that i dont use my watercolours in a blendy, wet on wet style very often.

@AlkanetEXE 7 months ago

I love how expressive your bears are - I hope the ones at my zoo come out of hibernation soon. This year I got an annual pass to my local zoo and I've been taking my sketchbook along every weekend!

I am currently reading through a book called How To Draw Animals by Jack Hamm. He gives GOOD information on animal leg joints; starting off general and then getting specific, with a whole chapter on bears.

I loved the bird you started with, but oh the first full page of bears is my favourite! I hope they're the sketchbook print for this month 😍 I'm also so happy to see that you don't always colour straight away cos I tend to just sketch a lot of the time and go back and colour later on a day where I don't feel like drawing. I've been starting my day with sketching and it's done wonders for my mental health <3 :) this was a great video, I really love your chats during these sketchbook videos.

I’m a tattoo artist and I draw everyday but it’s hard to find time to draw for yourself. I really love the sketchbook for drawing for myself. It’s a goal I really want to achieve, drawing for myself. I draw for everyone else everyday and I miss doing my own things sometimes😅
