I Tested the NEO GEO AES+ With the Developers
The Neo Geo AES was delayed for an entire year, but what actually happened behind the scenes? Let's get to the bottom of it.

We are finally sitting down to address the elephant in the room regarding the production timeline. I know there has been a lot of speculation about why the release schedule shifted, and today we are clearing the air to explain exactly what happened during that waiting period.

This discussion is for anyone curious about the reality of manufacturing retro gaming hardware. We will look at what was happening at the table, how SNK managed the production hurdles, and the specific challenges that impacted the launch of this iconic game hardware.

Let me know in the comments: Did you expect such a long delay, or did you think something else was going on? Subscribe for more retro gaming updates, hardware deep dives, and exclusive content.

Love how candid and technical these interviews get. Between you and Neo Ness I've had pretty much all my concerns and questions answered and now just looking forward to getting my hands on the console. Hope the thing he mentioned about possibly selling the Japanese inserts separately becomes reality!

I’m glad they are taking their time to get it right and not wanting to let down the fans.. and the buyers who never had one and could only dream.. this project deserves to have a triumphant launch and excitement for everyone and not just a select few…. The high demand they want to honour that.. respect. September 2027 will come round fast enough 😊

Thanks to you, too, for this interview. You and NeoNess have done an incredible job sharing information with us enthusiasts. That’s not something just anyone does—most of the time, they just use creators who take selfies. Thanks, and keep up the great work!

While it's true the past communication from them could have been better, we now understand that they got through a lot and had a ton of issues to fix. Redesigning the asic chip was probably a difficult call to make but they look really sincere and dedicated about making the best possible product. I'm even more hyped than before.

This is quite a rare moment from the Neo Geo+ producer. Companies don't usually give clear and precise answers to a negative situation like the near year long delay. Companies typically give HR or sanitized replies that don't answer anything or vague word salads that just confuse or frustrate customers. I thought it was the console that was holding the release back but it was chip hungry mega size game cartridges that's slowing things down. Well, thanks bro for clearing things up a bit. At least gamers who already preordered the system will receive a free gamepad for their trouble. Peace Bro!

I would like to express my sincere support for PLAION for taking on such an exciting and ambitious project. I would also like to thank Mr. Wright Way for interviewing the team and sharing the details about the delay of the AES.

I truly hope that this wonderful project will also be officially released in South Korea. If it is, I would definitely love to purchase one Ultimate Edition set.

There are many retro gamers in Korea who are very interested in this product. Some have already purchased it through Amazon Japan, but I believe there are many more who have been holding off on their purchase because there is currently no official release in Korea.

I sincerely hope that PLAION will consider an official Korean release. I believe there is a passionate retro gaming community here that would be very happy to support the project.
