First track on the first album… announcing here we are!

And the world was never the same...

First Led Zeppelin song off the first album! I love this song. It's one of my favorite First songs of any artist.

The very first song on the very first album let everyone know what was about to be unleashed on the world....

That's a single foot pedal on the bass drum. Fire triplets!

That was our introduction to Led Zeppelin had us hooked from the start.                 great reaction

The kick drum gentleman.... the kick drum!!!
Legendary!!!

As others have said, this was the first song off their debut album.  The album was recorded in about 36 hours and Jimmy paid the studio fees out of his own pocket.  Zeppelin wasn't even signed to a label yet; they recorded the album, Jimmy produced it, then he and their manager, Peter Grant went directly to Atlantic Records with a complete product in hand for them to listen to and sign the group.  Atlantic gave them (for that time period) an unprecedented advance.  In addition, Jimmy and Peter insisted the band/Jimmy have full artistic control, from the album cover artwork, to the songs, the running time, the arrangement - you name it - plus, they insisted they would NOT produce singles.  "Album Oriented Music" on the burgeoning FM signal was becoming the way to go instead of pop music's top 20 or 10 on AM radio.  Here's the thing about Zeppelin; they did not spend a lot of time rehearsing in the studio because studio time costs money.  Jimmy used to do a lot of stuff at home then bring it to the studio for them to work on.  They were incredibly fortunate to have two studio veterans in Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones.  Both had been session musicians before Jimmy created the band so they knew how to get down to business when it was time to record.  They knew how to put together arrangements and the ins and outs of recording.  Vocalist Robert Plant and drummer John Bonham were raw talent.  They were friends who lived in the same neck of the woods and had even been in a band or two together before joining Zep.  If you can believe it, at the time of their first album, Jimmy was 24, John Paul Jones was 22 and both Robert and Bonham were 20 - incredible!  They were musical visionaries both in and out of the studio.

Led Zeppelin is widely regarded as the ultimate jam-band. In live performances they extend and improvise on many of their songs. They are true musicians, even Plant uses his vocals like another instrument as you guys have commented before with his scatting and call/response with the guitar like in the song Nobody's Fault but Mine. You really need to see a live performance to understand them as a band and feel the energy.

Always amazes me that this’s the first song that people would have ever heard from them. First song on their debut album and it’s this masterful! Wow

Each member is an outstanding artist. Combine them and we have brilliance. 🥰

“You can tell the difference between the father & son”. Love that so much!  😊

The smiles say it all!

The very first Led Zeppelin song.ever reccorded
They recorded this at the very end of 68.

This entire debut album was recorded in approximately 30 hours

JPJ was the back bone of the band usually going unseen.

Their first song on their debut album! The first time we ever heard anything like them!

I believe this album was recorded 'after hours' in a total of 30 hours

From the first song, we KNEW this was special. Remember, it was our introduction to them. All of the songs you got familiar with first, didn't exist yet. Those came later, with time and experience. Although we thought they were an amazing band, I'm not sure anyone could have predicted what they would become. Every album just got better and better. It became obvious by. their second album that this was no fluke. Zep II is when America became a huge audience for them and it only climbed from there. It was such great times to discover new and exciting music back then

Yay, more Zep.  Thank you Gentlemen!  Great reaction!
