I bought the album on the strength of listening to ‘ripples’ once.

I was 15.  Im 66 now.

The album is a masterpiece,

This is such a beautiful album. Genesis of this era is genius.

You're not the only one who gets teary eyed.

This song hits so much harder as one gets older as youth fades
with age giving way to 'fleeting moments and fading memories.'

This song is just incredible.

One of their finest pieces of music.

70's Genesis. Trick Of The Tail & Wind and Wuthering ❤

One of greatest Genesis songs in Phil Collis era :washhands:

The entire album is actually brilliant.

Melancholic Genesis...Best experienced in the live show of shows, their final European tour 'When in Rome' in front of an amazing 500,000 adoring fans, you just need to watch, listen and soak it in!

'Entangled' conjures up a similar mood and emotions.

Erica. This was one of your best critiques that I've watched. I attempt to watch them all, but you lit up like a Christmas tree on Ripples. Genesis has this uncanny ability to have this effect, especially in the latter stages of their history, especially Trick of The Tail. This was Genesis's first album where Phil took the helm of lead vocals when Pete left the band. They auditioned numerous people for the open position and decided they already had their front man, even though he sat behind the drums. Trick IMHO, was the beginning of their onslaught into the real mainstream of the populace. They went from a closet band of Trespass,  Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England, and The Lamb, and then catapulted into the masses with Trick of The Tail. This is all in my humble opinion as I lived it in real time. Anyway, it's a great song and it touches your soul and opens the heart and Ripples fits that bridge sometimes when you allow Genesis into your life. There is much more to experience with their catalog. Well done and thank you again.

Impactfull song indeed. Ripples and years are the same : they never come back.

See/hear why we LOVE Genesis! Simple, deep, beautiful.

I never tire of hearing this beautiful piece of music. Insane amount of talent. It gets this old man teary eyed too at the shear beauty of it. Thanks for this reaction. Entangled is another classic beauty off of the same album.

As a 15 year old on it's release, this and Wind and Wuthering was my soul connection, it still is. Thank you for your appreciation.

always loved this song, beautiful and the sad reflection on aging, the fleeting of beauty, and the passage of time with the metaphor of ripples in a pond...they never some back. Steve's guitar on this is so sad and expressive

Superb what a song and album

If you don’t have an emotional reaction to that song, you’re dead inside.

From the same perfect album 'A trick of the tail' I can recommend you 'Entangled' too. You'll love it.
