"Some things are forgotten for a reason" - Nikolai Belinski

I’m actually kinda sad this mode didn’t pop off, you could tell they had a lot of passion for BO3 and I applauded them for trying to recreate the magic of WAW by locking it away until you finished the campaign.

i like to imagine nightmares is just a really fucked up fracture universe that monty just decided to keep isolated and ignore whilst he focused on his funny cycle

Black ops 3 has a terrible story mode, but the idea of being able to replay the story with the twist of being told through the idea of a zombie narrative was such a unique idea ripe with potential. Imagine being able to play Modern Warfare 1/2/3/World at War/Black Ops 1 and 2 campaigns but with the twist of them being in a zombie outbreak.
Such a great concept worth bringing back to add more single player content and fun to the campaign missions.

Mode makes alot more sense after Blundell confirmed yesterday the entire mode was made by 2 developers as extra content since they were ahead of schedule

I’ve had NIGHTMARES that you didn’t oil up😊

0:59 I love the implication that there’s a constant camera live feed on Jason Blundell to make sure he’s still in containment

I was convinced for a majority of this video that this whole campaign was a fan edit cause it's just the main story with zombies instead of an evil ai. Also Mason screaming Bowman great, love the voice crack

ok the name 61-15 is a pretty good way to hide Nova 6 and Element 115.

Best part of nightmares is suffering through the entire thing on realistic difficulty just for your nightmares rank to turn from lvl 1 to lvl 2

I feel like AW did a really cool job with the story transitioning into zombies with the prison outbreak, that shit was so cool when I first experienced it

I am surprised that no one did a lot of videos of this mode ,  definitely forgotten

My biggest problem with nightmares is the gameplay. You’re bound to 1 weapon instead of 2, there’s no meta progression like weapon levelling, which results in weapon pickups being randomised. And the zombies spawn out of thin air, they don’t rise from the ground or come out of vents/windows (usually, sometimes they spawn in rooms outside the map and jump down), this is a huge problem because you can easily get stuck between two freshly spawned zombies and instantly die.
Pickups are also few and far between and one of the main pickups is a weapon drop which automatically swaps your weapon and places your previous weapon on the ground, which is often hard to see and therefore hard to retrieve.
Also, the mission dialogue being muted often results in you not knowing you’re ready to progress.

The audio not syncing up with the knife actually up to his throat was peak Nightmare campaign status

I remember when this Gamemode was first discovered. It was supposed to be what people were wanting at that time which was a Zombies Campaign mode.

I so wish nightmares came back. Nightmares and custom mutations are honestly the two best additions to zombies and nightmares couldve came back, either as a version of zombies but with a focus on narrative and less on zombie massacre or the campaign told with zombies instead of humans

Duuuuuude when we said zombies campaign we didnt mean Zombies + Campaign, we meant zombies campaign 😭

30:50 the correct one liner to use there would have been "dread this." It writes itself, they tried too hard lol

I remember vividly how many people wanted a zombies campaign and were so hyped when we got it only to find out that it was more or less sabotaged by fact it was the BO3 campaign with zombies instead of what we really wanted. The round based maps in chronological story order from the previous games except instead of them being round based, be pseudo-round based while completely easter eggs to progress the maps as missions. "Rounds" would still pass as needed of course but the major change would be that a few maps that didnt have easter eggs would get them. We also wanted the campaign to be all of the maps from the previous 3 treyarch games that would lead up to the actual round based maps in BO3.

We wanted a lot and got none of it. Which is why so many people were disappointed and forgot this mode existed. And thats wild in itself that more people remember this mode than Freerun, a mode that was hyped as well but ended up being DOA.

I liked the black ops 3 story, people don't like it because they just didn't get it. But the campaign shows quite the issue for us having robot bodies and having something electronic connected to our brains. The fact that the soldiers downloaded a virus through their hands then became the biggest problem is a really neat idea.
