I will never forget the time I was stuck on an endgame puzzle for thirty minutes, suddenly thought to myself "how would I make the solution to this puzzle if I was evil?", and solved it a minute later.

people are now creating games with the super secret hidden mechanics that change everything about the game's trajectory and even genre that kids used to lie about at school.

Remember: A Void Stranger is just a Void Friend you haven't met yet.

every time you mention the storyline and atmosphere i'm like "oh this is exactly the game i'm looking for." then you mention the gameplay and i'm like "oh yeah, i'm never touching this game."

Getting to the part with the lonely bride, standing next to her, and quitting the game right then and there so she doesn't have to be alone.
Yeah, I beat the game.

I love Eyepatch Wolf’s narration style because he gives stuff like “I Have No Mouth But I Must Scream” and Garfield Pizza the same level of gravitas

Can't belive you accidentally stumbled upon my pen name when picking up the wrong book, Eyepatch. What are the chances?

God I just realized Blue Prince sounds like blueprints

Something I really love that System Erasure mentioned in interviews is that the two devs switched who was programmer vs designer between Zero Ranger and Void Stranger, so they'd each get a chance to learn those ends. It's wild they made two games in completely different genres that absolutely nail it, and each of them was the first time being programmer/designer on a game.

"Finnish people trying to make a game that isn't completely unhinged"-challenge(IMPOSSIBLE)

Don't feel bad about reading the wrong book. In high school, after being told i should watch My Hero Academia, I instead watched Little Witch Academia by mistake and was very confused when my friends started talking about superheros

something I've realised is that if a game was made by a very small Finnish dev team, it's gonna change how you perceive the world

An extremely important note about Void Stranger’s first puzzle: absolutely NONE of the trailers made for this game feature usage of the rod in any way, just Gray running around the rooms. They had it in their inventory, sure, but you were never shown the primary verb the whole game was based around. Without it, all of the puzzles shown might as well have been unsolvable mysteries.

Really got the noggin going during the waiting period. And god, what a waiting period.

Name a more iconic duo than Eye patch Wolf & 'Games that Hate Him'. The man takes to masochistic experiences like a fish to water, and this just gets added to the ranks of "Fear and Hunger", "Dokapon", and somehow "Sexy Hiking".

Never change, John. Truly you are the Arbuckle to gaming's Garfields.

I love the metaness of players getting trapped in the void from frustration, later able to proceed with help from other players/ "lost souls"
Just as Gray needed the egg to tell her to knock on the chest, that person's tip about the shape of the rooms unlocked the whole rest of the game for you

This game feels like the videogame equivalent of House of Leaves lmao

I reallllly don't have the patience, time, or grit and gut to get through these types of games. Between this and Fear and Hunger I thank you for letting me experience these sorts of games I find so intriguing, but only through the lens of a summary. I'll give it a buy to thank the devs and let it sit as a reminder of what I cannot enjoy first-hand. Cheers.
