Which movie should we breakdown next?

This movie dropped almost a year ago, and people are still talking about it-still dissecting it, still intrigued. That kind of staying power is rare, especially for an original film. Can't remember the last time a non-franchise movie held the conversation like this for so Iong.

To be able to write with such clarity, such a wise use of screenplay real estate. wow what a gift Coogler has. Thanks for the well-thought out analysis.

Everyone talks about Michael B. Jordan (and rightfully so—his performances in both roles were brilliant) but I feel Miles Caton (Sammie) gets somewhat overlooked, when his performance was the absolute lynchpin of the whole story. For a 19 year old, in his first ever film role, to stand not only convincingly but compellingly alongside industry veterans like Jordan, Steinfield, O'Connell, and even Mosaku and Lindo (who, despite having more acclaim in TV and stage respectively, are still powerhouses in their own right). The depth of character and emotion shown from Caton is very impressive—all the more coming from a young man who is just one year out of highschool.

Edit: and I didn't even mention that he co-wrote Last Time (I Seen the Sun)! Man, when I was his age I was failing my driving test and getting bad haircuts

6:59 the shaking of Smoke's hand isn't due to being upset, it's PTSD from the war, it's why Stack rolls the cigarettes for them (and why Smoke can't roll in the end).

This is why I was never on that replace T’Challa campaign. It was egregiously selfish ignore the emotional state of Coogler and the cast. Meet humans where they are and will they stand on business to give you something you didn’t know you wanted. Sinners is amazing and you can feel the passion they put into it.

Chadwick would’ve been there if we was still here, part of it feels like a love letter to Chadwick

This is a great dissection. To the Oscars with it now!!If it doesn't win...

I think it was such a smart idea with starting the aftermath of what happened when Sammy walks into the church. It made me want to know what happened. Why was he bloody and was that his or someone else's blood, why and how did he get that scratch on his face, why was he holding the head of a guitar and where did the rest of it go, what happened that caused this young man to enter in such a state of shock. So when I finally saw the night's events play out it gives so much more context to when i rewatched it and understood where all of this will come from. Plus the first 40 minutes of this movie is absolutely genius. It helped me get to know the characters and the world. It let me know on some dynamics and history between certain characters. So when they started getting picked off by the vampires it hurt so much more. So for the people whom I've had discussions with and said the first 40 minutes is filler...I kindly point to the door😠

I could nerd out in this movie forever. Never saw anything like it, pestered others to see it, and took an online class on it. This movie defies genre.

4:56. To piggyback off of Spike, to me sinners feels like a noir psychological thriller with vampires. If that makes sense….

I looooove that they pushed the vampire reveal deeper into the movie, it caught me off guard and was sick! I had totally forgotten about the vampires by that point lol just immersed in the story

My grandfather was a sharecropper that died before I was born :( so much emotion in this

Sinners was a masterpiece but my own frustration is: I wish we had loooooooonger time with the Choctaws ! ❤❤❤

I can't emphasize how much this film means to me. There's not a second in the film that isn't layers upon layers of absolute perfection. Coogler did this right - he made a really, really fun movie and put the film's messaging mostly in the subtext. I have learned so much just by breaking down details in the film. I'm extremely happy for everyone associated with the film, but especially for Coogler - he deserves to own that film. 😊

This movie was my big discovery, and i found it excellent in every aspect.
Sinners was incredible and will forever stay a must watch to me.

I keep saying Sinners isn't a Vampire flick. Sinners is a story about the History of the Delta Blues. With Vampires.

This film is a masterpiece….if they do not win Oscar I’m not paying for any more films.  I bought this one.

Sinners don’t need Oscars. The film is a classic and is goated. 😊

While not from Mississippi, but from the south nonetheless, the gorgeous all consuming scenes of the farmland in bloom were excellent. I can’t remember another movie that shows the south’s beauty like Sinners has. Paired with the music, I can smell the sweet air and the humidity. Great video. Great story. Great acting.
