I had to repost this because of a late copyright hold on it. It didn't strike my channel but demonetized the video :(. Thank you for all the support on the first upload and for any and all love on this one <3

"Rest well...dream of large women." That line caused me to spray Cherry Coke out my nostrils in the movie theater. It was agonizingly painfull, but I couldn't stop laughing!

As you wish = I love you.  So he was telling his grandson that he loves him.  One of the best movie endings ever.

Such a classic.  One of those movies where man, woman, old, young - everyone enjoys it.  The grandfather at the end saying "as you wish" was just saying "I love you" like it mentions in the story.  Which I think is the perfect ending, really well written.

The honor and respect in the "Inigo v. Wesley" fight is just amazing.

That's the original definition of the phrase "That swamp is so fire!"

My favourite trivia about this movie is that the fencing masters that get name dropped during the duel (Bonetti, Capo Ferro, Thibault and Agrippa) were all real masters and teachers of rapier fencing in the 16th and 17th century. All of them, apart from Bonetti, have surviving, illustrated manuals on fencing that you can look up online, and they are used by historical martial artists to study and recreate historical martial arts.

31:48   The grandfather knew his grandson wasn’t super into him / close to him and that they’d deepened their relationship through sharing that story by the fact the grandson wanted him to come over again (voluntarily wanted to spend more time with him) and in a way was expressing a newfound love for his grandpa, and Grandpa responded by telling him he loved him too in a language they now share.

(the grandson knows that “as you wish” means “I love you”)  So not only is he literally saying “as you wish” (I’ll come over again tomorrow to read the story), but he’s also saying “I love you (too)” in response to the grandson wanting grandpa to come over - remember,  he hadn’t wanted him there at the start of the movie.

At the end of the film the grandfather "Peter Falk" pats his pockets as if he's looking for something prior to leaving...Peter Falk plays the grandfather. For many years, he was revered for his portrayal of the detective "Columbo".  Columbo was always seen as a bit absent-minded, always looking about for his keys, and padding his pockets.  So that was thrown in to reference his role as Columbo.

"Prince Dorkin-finken" 😅 I love it!

A beautiful homage to this movie is done by "Lord of the Rings:  Fellowship of the Ring":

As Westley says "As you wish" his way of saying "I love you" - When Arwen is about to ride off with Frodo, Aragorn says  to her "Be iest lin", which in Elvish means "As you wish..."

Thank you, Lipps, for such a beautiful reaction to a classic movie!

You may recognise Robin Wright, who plays Buttercup, as she was also Jenny in Forrest Gump.
Grandpa is Peter Falk, best known for Columbo, the grandson was the lead in 'The Wonder Years'

No, the grandpa is not Wesley, but in this film 'as you wish' is 'I love you' and while it's not romantic love, but family love, he loves his grandson.

Fun fact when "Rugen" hit "Wesley on the head, the actor accidentally did it for real.

This film is one of my all time favorites and each time I notice something new. For example, the blows Inigo deals to Rugen are the same ones Rugen dealt to him, each shoulder, both cheeks, then once through the gut in the same place the throwing knife struck.

Wallace Shawn's, as Vizzini, delivery of "UNEMPLOYED!  IN GREENLAND!"  will always make me belly laugh.

I always took the final line as Grandpa's way to say I love you, just like in the book.

10:34 - Prince Dorkenfinkendinken... 🤣🤣🤣

Some fun facts:  The Duel was choreographed by Errol Flynn's stunt double and at the time was the longest cinematic duel until I believe one of the star wars movies.  It was also one of the last scenes shot as the actors both trained daily and kept adding moves.  The movie is based on a real book that was about a fake book, its a twisted story.  Andre the Giant was Princess Buttercup's best friend on set.  The duel between Count Rogu and Inigo, and the final bit was because Inigo's actor was using his own father's death to give him the intensity.  Count Rogu's actor was really scared during that scene.   A fake body was used in the Miracle Max scene because Wesley kept cracking up and laughing while he was supposed to be mostly dead.  Billy Crystal ad-libbed most of his lines.

Great reaction to a classic movie!

Still my absolute favorite movie of all times, and I'm said to be a bitter, jaded old man.  So there.

The grandfather's last "As you wish." still makes me tear up.

It is an excellently done movie, at times very light-hearted almost to the point of silliness, and at other times deep and (in spite of the grandson's early wishes) romantic.  In the early 90s, my girlfriend at the time and I watched it together often, and would quote it at each other.  The bad part was that when we'd be having another conversation about something different if I said something was possible she'd always interject "pig" immediately after "possible" and it'd derail my chain of thought. 😀Frustrating then, funny now.  She and I are still friends, even though we live states apart, and I'll still occasionally text her a quote from this movie. 😀

As a kid the shrieking eels always freaked me out.

I knew I had just watched your reaction to this.   Worth a rewatch 🙂
