Nice to see Bury on the box. I left many years ago. My family had a tobacconist/sweet shop up on the old Rock where it turned into Walmsley Road  before it was all knocked down.  That Cancer Research shop has been there for at least 50 years. I found a copy of Kinky Music by The Larry Page Orchestra in the mid-1990s

I built up a decent collection last year from charity shops, but just stopped bothering. Spend 99% of the time just going through absolute garbage. With vinyl especially, they just need to skip the lot, nobody wants it, and never will 😆

One of my local charity shops gets a weekly dump of stock from the local record store. It's a treasure trove. I've scored so much jazz it's unreal.

Ha. I saw that Macy Gray album in every charity shop in Enfield a couple of months back.  I actually bought a copy because I thought one day it might actually be quite difficult to find.  Or maybe not, but you're right, it's a good album.

Would like to see you tackle some weekend car boots over the summer Stevie...

Even though there wasn't anything really worth getting it still looked like a nice day out. @ least your bank account was able 2 take a break.

Hi Stevie, I bought a CD player recently and had not got around to getting any CD's yet, but, totally inspired by this video, I went to the three charity shops we have in our village yesterday. Nearly all rubbish until near the end of the third shop when I somehow came across 'Treat U Right' by Blackgirl and 'Heaven On Earth' by Donna Allen.

Emile Ford and the Checkmates. Spent 6 weeks at number one in '59/'60 with "What do you wanna make those eyes at me for" (you must know that one Stevie 😂). Later covered by Shakin' Stevens in '87.

My fav channel on Youtube

Decent CDs in those charity shops, Stevie.

Watching your video reminded me of the feelings of utter despair that I feel when I look at the 'music' sections of charity shops. Pure landfill. I'm into history in a big way and the Tudor period (Henry VII, Henry VIII, Elizabeth I etc) in particular and have fortunately found many brilliant books over the years which has turned into a very impressive collection. Hope you gave your hands a good scrub when you got home! Cheers ... Rick

One you might come across on your travels: Elkie Brooks "Live and Learn" LP has a fantastic version of "The Rising Cost Of Love"

Not great in bigger towns.... However, in chairty shops within smaller towns, record hunting  is a gold mine!

Love the in the wild digging as you said you never know what your gonna find. Trouble is a lot of the charity shops are saving good stuff for auction sites but I suppose they have to make money some way

Having lived in the Bury area pretty much all my life this doesn't surprise me and believe you me I've done all the charity shops. Unless someone drops a collection that they just want rid of and are not willing to go down the online selling route, this is the type of 'music' you're gonna find I'm afraid.....Also searching for 'niche' music takes it to another level.

Should have grabbed that Count Basie album..

Should’ve got that PSB 7”, on the grounds it was a promo and Australian alone! I know how you feel about finding nothing in Charities these days,I was chuffed as hell to find a copy of “I Can Prove It” by Phil Fearon on 7”,  amongst show tune albums/budget classical/and flippin James Last and Ray Conniff! Unless some massive well respected hipster does a blog or video on both James and Ray being “massively underated” I can’t see any of them disappearing anytime soon from the charities can you?! Good video as usual, keep on digging Stevie!!!!

Old James Last has 2 albums that are worth a listen Voodoo Party and the one you might be talking about is called Well Kept Secret its more of Jazz Funk album the problem with charity shops is of course most of the decent stuff that does get handed in either gets sold online or the staff in these shops get first dibs

One of my local charity shops occasionally has a real gem i go in everyday i bought Ernie Graham and andy fernbach a few months back , and the other day I bought a couple of early byrds lps not that valuable but good to have
