I bought the arcade1up Capcom cabinet mainly for Strider. My fav arcade game ever.

I honestly prefer the NES version of this game. The RPG elements and the back tracking made the game so enjoyable. I definitely wish Capcom would release this version , bugs and all, to modern consoles.

As lover of metroidvania style games I really enjoyed NES Strider and over the years I have gone back to it several times.

Also, the OST is one of the greatest of all time.

I love the 2014 Strider, I beat it but it holds a special place for me it's the first game my son sat down and watched me play he was about 2 years old when it came out and he was just mesmerized by it.

I have many fond memories of playing Strider with my dad. We would change off, 1 would play and the other would map and take notes. Makes me wonder what ever happened to that notebook We used.
My father passed away a couple months ago So I really appreciate jogging the happy memories with him. Thank you.

I owned strider on the NES back in the 80s. One thing people don't consider as much is that there weren't all that many games, and the $50 for a NES cartridge was a lot of money back then. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get the Arcade version, but the game I got was worth the money spent at the time.

I always liked this game as a kid but I could never figure it out, and I never even got halfway into the game. Still, when I was a kid, I liked it even though I had no idea how to play it and I had fun despite losing a lot. I overlooked the janky messed up controls and the sloppy coding, becuase as a kid... I just thought it was cool. It was the game's coolness factor that really opened up my imagination when I was 12. I had only a little bit of experience with Japanese media, a few episodes of Ranma 1/2 and Robotech, mostly... But so many cool things about this game fascinated me and grabbed my imagination. This cool giant dragon-shaped space station up in the sky, these cool characters with awesome weapons, this cool Ninja dude with a long red scarf and his cool slashing weapon, this cool future-tech looking world that was mixed with an international feeling to it, and that opening intermission sequence that felt like a cool action anime opening with that awesome song that sounded like some Japanese opening song to an anime that got me pumped up. This game just inspired my brain in a lot of ways and formed a lot of the ideas and tropes that I would go on to think was cool. I could never get very far, and I may have liked games like Ninja Gaiden, River City Ransom, and Mega Man a lot more, but this game stuck with me as a core memory of what "style" and "coolness" was all about.

Strider 2014 marries the NES exploration and the arcade game perfectly. I had the NES game as a kid and you’re 100% right about the game, even the wall jump. I had a NES advantage controller with turbo, made doing that jump so much easier. But overall, I enjoyed it as a kid and always felt that version should have gotten a proper remake, the story, what you could follow, wasn’t that bad.

This game needs a remake

Had this game when I was a kid.  The nes version is waayy different than the genesis and arcade, but it was still a good game.  I could never beat the last boss, Strider Mattock, unfortunately.

Strider NES isn't a continuation of the manga/comic. It's an adaptation of it. It adapts the same events of the manga, i game form.

The question is: why did Strider 2 abandon the direction taken by the NES version of Strider?  The obvious next step for the series was to combine the complexity and storytelling of NES Strider with the aesthetics of arcade Strider 1.  But instead... :-/

Strider (NES) was way different from the arcade version. There are some things I like about it, but the arcade version is so much more fun to replay (and played better of course.)

The NES strider is janky as hell but it's interesting and worth checking out.

My favorite Strider is definitely the 2014 game though.

I like how this game shows that the protagonist has more involved with him and his strider clan Than the other game this game makes the striders feel more alive or have more characters and personality to them I like how this game    Shows It feels like these striders are justIt feels like these striders are just the protagonist is the hero and that's that To me this game shows more of these characters have personalities outside of just being cool These characters actually have a personality and aren't just a arcade game with no story God bless you

I personally Really loved this story it was based off of the manga and it was good at least it had lore The other strider game did not have as much lore and information about the protagonist or the people associated with him That game made it seem like the protagonist was the only strider around  We've heard about other striders but never actually got to see them

They could have at least given Strider the damn flip in the game. Even Samus and Mario had flips. That stiff ass jump was just pure laziness. The biggest issue with Double Dragon wasn't two player simultaneous. They did it for DD 2 so it was lazy to not do it for part 1.
