You Need 600mm... But NOT The $14K One

Sony's 600mm f/4 goes for about $14,000. I had one on rental for a week in 2023... but I couldn't wait to hand it back.
On our beaches, every ʻĪlioholoikauaua (Hawaiian monk seal) mom with a pup gets 150 feet of space. Across four years and four of those pairs on Oʻahu, I photographed them with three very different 600mm setups... a Sigma 150-600 zoom, that rental, and my own 300mm f/2.8 with a 2x teleconverter. All three ended up in the same 14-photo 2027 calendar.
So before I tell you which one earned the most pages... see if you can pick out the $14,000 frames on your own.

The 2027 calendars are open for pre-order at the link below, the native birds and the monk seals, with part of the proceeds going to Birds, Not Mosquitoes and HMAR.

I love your wildlife photography and I enjoy watching your YouTube channel. You should also go to Singapore 🇸🇬 and meet up with Terence Szeto, as he is also a wildlife photographer.
I also noticed when you changed out your lenses, your sensors pointing straight up to the sky 🤔
