I just discovered your videos yesterday while having a traditional comic art rejuvenation of my own. I love hearing your old war stories, and find your insight very valuable, as someone trying to break into the industry myself. I hope they keep coming! I love painting with them playing.

Francis Manapul's black T-shirt and jeans Superboy will always be my favorite Conner Kent. Watching you drawing him with a traditional technique is magical!!!

im glad you are a back, i discovered your channel with the previous video and watched most of them in backwards release order, your insights and effort in packaging these pieces of your mind and art in a aestheticaly pleasing way but also sincere are really much appreciated Francis, thanks for the doses of inspiration.

Thank you for this video, Francis. Reminds me of years ago, during the early days of your career, I'd find you at various shows and stand in front of your table watching your draw and ink and asking you questions and listening to your answers and coaching and tips with extreme interest. This feels like the virtual version of that that and I greatly appreciate it. I hope you're do many, many more!

Francis, I'm so glad you're back with the longer videos.

Great video, Francis. I love all the inking work you did on this little page, but even more than that, I really appreciated everything you talked about, the insecurities, the doubts, and just the very human way you approach your art, your work, and even the success you’ve had.
I also love trying new tools. I feel like they add so much to us as artists, because every time you try something different, you end up learning something new about the way you draw and the way you work. So hearing you talk about that was great too.
It really hit me at a moment when I needed to hear someone being this honest about the whole process.
So thank you for making this video. It genuinely helped me a lot.

This is so nostalgic when i was a teenager I was obsessed with your Superboy Comics, this was so fun to see! Your style always has been so fun to look at, I always look so long at every piece you draw to really take in all the details! Glad to see you making videos!

It makes you feel connected.

This was so peak dude. I cant wait to see more of your work in these little postcards. I love how you have different camera angles for your process. The close ups are to die for. Seeing all the individual brush strokes and the pencil work is awesome. As someone practicing art looking at your techniques inspires me to try them out. This is an amazing series. I hope you do continue this series as its a beautiful way to not only explain your truths to your viewers, along with aspiring artists, but to showcase just how fun it is to let loose and just draw. I love this!

Keep your ‘long’ videos coming! You have something to share with the world out there!!! Best!

I really love the drybrush effect around Conner's head, really draws the focus against the dark background

Always love seeing a new Francis Manapul video pop up! Unsurprisingly, this is fantastic. Your videos have a way of being interesting, informative, inspiring, all at the same time. And cozy... This may sound weird, but, watching this video felt like curling up under a blanket in front of an open fireplace... cozy. Thanks for sharing. Love what you do, and how you do it... With passion and care.

Hello Francis, been a fan ever since Witchblade and Necromancer. Glad a found this! Love the video!

and finally, AN ARTIST I CAN RELATE TO AS COMMISSIONS ARTIST!
yeah, commissions are great, I LOVE DRAWING and it will always be great to make a living out of what you love to do...but yeah, commissions can be so...shallow. lots of times you must draw things you dont like or enjoy drawing. and that can buzzkill the joy of drawing.

when that hapopens to me, i go back to pencil and paper, and simply let go, i draw things i like, the way i like. until the groove is back. sounds like diva bs, but it is not, when it comes to art, the more  I LOVE DOING THIS mindset you keep while drawing, the best art you will make.

also.  your lineart is delicious to see :)

greetings.

What I am going through is, while finding inspiration and learning through other artists work, finding my own style and most importantly accepting my style instead of comparing it to artists who are more experienced.
Also realizing that tastes vary. I have seen artists I hold in high regard complimenting art and art styles I would view as not good to "eh"...(Over the years art and art styles I viewed as no good to "eh" I have know come to see the beauty in and have more appreciation for it.)...this helps when you feel your art ia not up to par becauae you are comparing it to those you admire because it is not about what you like as the artists...(to a degree depending on the circumstances)...but rather what the observer likes.

absolutely brilliant video. Love the sketch, but loved the words more. Thanks for posting

Love those macro close ups, I was really feeling it! Hoping for more vids!

This looks so awesome sir. Inktober is HERE!!

Had no idea you felt like you failed on LoSH, man. I totally enjoyed your art in that title. What I saw was a progression of your artistic growth, from LoSH, to Adventure then you were just great on The Flash. Learned a lot from you then, learning a lot still!

amazing work. insightful video. inspiring as always! going to pick up the Rocketfeller 1-2 tpb to support you!
