I think for Revali is not that he doesn’t like to be talked about at all since he clearly does enjoy the glory and admiration given how much he secretly crazes Zelda and Link’s approval, but he believes that admiration should earned through strength and determination. That’s actually why he respects Zelda over Link, since he saw how much she works to the point of exhausting herself while Link never expresses anything and seems to not care.

Dang, NOA really did Revali dirty with their translation. The JP translation of his diary entries shows that he was intentionally trying to provoke Link so that they could push each other.

VINDICATION. MY BOY IS FINALLY VINDICATED.

Revali has always been my favourite of the Champions and it's nice to see that the voice files basically confirmed how I viewed him.

Also really nice to see someone who actually likes him and doesn't just make KFC jokes.

Revali is an example of a well-written character. And he was well implemented into the story.
I had these impressions of him through BotW alone. Later it all just got proven.

A few days ago I was able to try my friend's Switch 2 and she had TOTK on.
She wanted to show me the notes, while I wanted to see how much better the game runs on the new system, so I went to Rito Village because I knew the frame drop there was always pretty intense.
As soon as I arrive, I hear a note that heavily implies that Revali really wasn't the jerk everyone thought.

I lowkey cried, my boy finally got some justice 😭😭😭

Revali is my favorite Champion. He's so relatable in his struggles and insecurities, and the memories made me respect him even more. I really like how much he's like both Zelda and Link, and how he sees Zelda as more than a duty, but someone who is his equal in contrast with Link with whom he never got to actually know and relate to. It's such an interesting dynamic.

Bravado usually hides insecurity.  That's all I have to say.

Zelda fans can do amazing this when they actually engage with the source material dude holy shit

Its so refreshing seeing a Wild Era video essay with actual media literacy and analysis put into it

Revali is one of the best Zelda characters. And i don't mean because of his skills. He is rounded and fleshed out like so few others are.

YESSSSS REVALI VIDEO me and my autism are gonna have a field day with this one

What you bring up with the Secret Rito Spring is an excellent point.  We talked about this a bit in our Collab video a couple of years ago, but you're right that Revali is the one amongst the champions who could most identify with Zelda and her struggles to awaken her powers.  While TotK would go on to establish that all of the races have innate elemental power, and thus, Rito can fly by learning to use it, it does seem that Revali wasn't blessed with an abundance of that power like the apparent bloodlines of the sages.

As such, while Revali had some amount of Wind power in him innately, it was his hard training that allowed him to bring it further apparently any other Rito in recent history.

Is Revali greater than Tulin or the Ancient Sage?
I do still believe that the Medoh and other Divine Beast Orbs the Sheikah created are similar to a Secret Stone, in that they are enhancing the abilities of the Champions.  The Secret Stones sound like they are an amplifier, in essence, a multiplier to an individual's base power.   The Divine Beast Orbs sound like they are a raw elemental boots of power, not a multiplier.  We don't know if the multiplier from the Stone applies strictly to a person's innate elemental power, or if that elemental power can "grow" with training.

Fundamentally, we have to ask if Revali's training increased his natural elemental power, or if he merely learned how to use the power he already had more efficiently.  If his training did increase his base elemental power, as you seem to believe Wolf, then if Revali had a Secret Stone instead of the Medoh Orbs, his abilities would eclipse all others.

It is seriously touching to see how the princess thought of Revali, and how much he did for the kingdom and his people who he cared so much for. I always found him a bit off-putting with how cocky he acted. But seeing him in the light shown here? Yeah, that hits hard. It definitely makes him more likeable. It makes me appreciate him more beyond simply having the most useful ability in Breath of the Wild.

I really appreciate your revali videos. I love learning more about complex characters, especially him since he is my favorite Zelda character ever. Thanks for the effort!

I always tought that Revali had soft spot on Zelda (also for Mipha, would be great to start theorizing why etc.) Because that Mount Lanayru cutscene before Calamiry strike. Just look Revali's expression and his voice is so soft when he speaks to Zelda.

Yeah, you can interpretent it to be like "so, still nothing?". But I think that Revali was concerned about Zelda (also maybe he started thinking about his people and what would happen to them, we know Revali cared deeply of his countryman).

Plus in that same cutscene, when Daruk orders and gives Link a go ahead, Revalis scoff is really like... muffled? Maybe he is already thinking what will happen, maybe it is something like "well let's keep the act up" or, with these new infos "Link is not ready".

How do you guys think my theories? I have always found that cutscene fascinating.

I've liked Revali ever since Champion's ballad and I miss the Gale more than any other ability in TotK. Happy to see some love for him online.

My very first thought about revalli was that he was just a jerk towards link and naturally cocky, but then I started to love his character, and I got into how he acted more, and lore surrounding him, and he became my favorite character. I thought I was weird for that but it's good to know he deserves to be favorited.

I am so glad Nintendo is expending on the side of revali they'd started showing in the champions' ballad! Also discovering these impressions zelda had of revali is making me really emotional! 😭💖

The more I watch your videos the more appreciate I get for Revali, EASILY my favourite character in any media! <33

Revali is a broken person who has an incredible amount of potential. He’s aspirational for a lot of us, even with the arrogance
