As for your thoughts on disruptive players, one of my few regrets about the series looking back at it now is that I did not do the best job clearly depicting the player behavior as something you shouldn't do at a real table and that it's a little one sided when it comes to the responsibilities of the DM vs the responsibilities of the players (ones of which are not discussed as often)

Were I to do the DM video again, I think I definitely would have tried to make it a bit more balanced rather than the "let players do whatever they want" message that I didnt realize it'd come across as, as you are not the first or only one who has noticed it that way

Based on her valid crashout throughout the Crap Guide to DM, Phero sounds like exactly the type of DnD player I'd want to be in a party with.

LOL This is fantastic. She thought she was gna get hated on because of her crash-out and all she did was reveal herself to be literally the ideal player that DMs and players alike would kill for to have at their table.

I know a really good DM thats been doing it for a long time, and she's not willing to put up with anyone's crap that's a bad player or someone genuinely trying to derail a story. She wields assertiveness and discretion like a rapier and I respect it so much

Fun fact, you can see the Bard and Paladin's relationship in more than just the table shots! All the characters make little cameos throughout the videos, and in particular you can see the paladin uno-reverse the bard's flirtations in the Race video (at the end of the elf section) and you see their wedding in the Warlock's blasting segment

I completely get the crashout. As a dm ive had some players go too far in a session. If people are willing to talk, listen and work things I believe a game can be saved but if not, well, the trouble is no longer welcome.

Hi, long time DM here. Your crashout at the end is valid, but I'd like to add something from my years of DMing experience that I learned through dealing with plenty of players similar to how those creators portrayed characters. Patience is key to getting plenty of these players to calm down. Sometimes they munchkin and are obnoxious cause they don't know how to participate and are nervous and acting out. HOWEVER! If they continue to use that, then as the DM you are God. Your word is law, and if you don't feel like being that heavy handed, then remember that everything your players do to break the game, you can do as well and worse. Since you don't need to ask permission from yourself. Though usually talking to your players and tell them to chill out helps. Also, groups over 8 people are a nightmare and end up very much like that. Six people plus DM is a pretty good number and usually doesn't get that crazy.

Hey Phero, a Forever DM here: I wanted to say a little something about your ending yap session.

While it is exaggerated and those are pushed to 200% annoyance, it is absolutely true. Sometimes DMs get players like that, and what the video briefly covers is that you as the DM can kick out the player that's misbehaving. However, it can very much be the other way around. Sometimes a player can run into a stubborn DM, or a DM who makes your game miserable. The message at the end is compromising for both sides. The DM does have a story to tell, but they have to probably give up on a few things to allow the players to express their characters. And as the players, you have to listen and obey the DM's world and lore. Now if you're a stinky farglebtich and refuse to listen to the DM, they have full rights to not have you at their table. And as a player, if you don't like the story the DM is spinning or you think the DM is unfair to you, you have full rights to leave. The key word in all this is compromise and communication. ^^

YES! Those monsters masquerading as players are called contrarians. They will literally listen to half of the campaign, care about half of that, and then make their character's whole purpose in life be the opposite of the entire point of the campaign, while deliberately making at least one player regret playing.
Being a DM is either great or makes you question why you bothered learning how to read.

The funniest thing about the DM advisor telling the DM "You can certainly try" is that if the DM tells you that, it usually means "You're gonna fail and it's gonna be hilarious, but yes, you can try."
