It’s soooo relieving to hear this….. these days I watched videos where they say it’s a masterpiece 😂😂😂and the real essence of RE, with comments on people like us that dont appreciate “innovation”

The marketing, the Cregger fans damaged this movie i haven't watched yet but from the I'm reviews i don't understand why it wasn't set in the 90s and it had BOWs from the game's, but zack wanted to do whatever he wanted to do.

Same. Its well made, Zach can make some exiting shots and action but the COMMUNICATED references to RE could be removed and the film would function EXACTLY the same. On top of that the humor overstays its welcome far too much toward the middle to the end. I wasnt all that moved by the meta narrative of his pregnancy/relationship since we had gotten only 2 instances of a convo between him and his gf in the beginning. Too many scenes set up to look cool that dont effect the plot. People are saying "the film ends like a RE game" and Im just perplexed because no RE Ive played ends on a Benny Hill hot potatoe scene of incompetent scientists running around before the main character becomes an abomination. The reaction in my theatre to the end was an echo of "Is it over? Is that it?"

I fully agree with moistcritical's take on this movie, I enjoyed it a lot but a big exception for the 3rd act/ ending. They should've let the protagonist survive. I was rooting for him, he really feels like a survival horror protagonist. The BOWs are cool new concepts it's not too far-fetched to what the RE universe can come up with knowing the existence of Nyx from outbreak. It was genuinely scary not knowing what would happen next, however by the time Bryan arrived at the hospital it feels like movie's direction went dogshit. Those dumb scientist deserves worse death than what they got. RIP Bryan (you're almost the new Ethan winters)

i haven't seen it. i still MIGHT, i dont know. I grew fatigued of these failed re film adaptions about a decade ago. its been 24 years of this. The 2002 one was OK at the time. its aged decently. But all the michael bay slop, then whatever mess the last one was. This sounds like it is just NOT the correct answer from the writers/producers/director to us. And its been nearly 3 decades we're owed the correct answer. Which is a well written adaptation of a RE3 or RE2 storyline with A list actors, A list writing. We can't keep paying for an RE product that is essentially not an RE product. The games on the other hand have been the best ever the last few years so we have that at least.

It would have been decent if he didn’t attach RE to it. Nothing connects to the games at all other than the survival horror mechanics and cinematography of a survival horror game, but it feels a lot more like The Thing was thrown into a blender with Evil Dead and The Evil Within.

Don't know if you enjoyed the onimusha series Heat but. Think you would like it if yiu tried it. Im sure you would make some videos on it if you did try it out .

They should’ve just called this dawn of the plagas not resident evil this ain’t no resident evil movie nothing new off the subject heat king any rumors on Veronica or if capcom gonna do a resident evil showcase??? Or are we fucked till game awards for some update ? 🤔

As a fan from RE back when it started in 1996, this movie was NOT RE! It should've been it's own thing and once again they've let us down, at least WTRC tried a lot (besides Leon and Jill) but besides that it was better but this? 🗑😡

I enjoyed this movie for the most. His biggest issue he needs to learn going forward learn how to close out a movie. All 3 of his films 3rd acts are awful and damn near ruins the movie.

It was a hit or miss

This movie has nothing to do with resident evil apart from the title and a couple of name drops. It low key pisses me off that the title is simply Re without a subtitle (like retribution, degeneration, etc), making it sound like it's a definitive representation of the franchise or something. I completely agree with you that it seems like the creator made a movie that also would have worked without the RE references in case they didn't receive permission

It does adapt the gameplay just not the story

The movie was really bad. Probably one of the worst movies of the year.

I, just got done watching it and I honestly think it's pretty good

I think you found the answer you were looking for, when look back at your plot summary you denouced several elements of franchise. When you look at his interviews and understand the mission statement of a creative, how is this a insult to the fans. Zach says clearly that he wanted the audience to walk away with the sentiment of playing the games not just shoutouts to iconnography. If he pulled majorly from the lore he would handicapping himself in being a creative building a love letter to the fans.

Pretty much, I never expect too much from Resident Evil movie adaptations. I do, however, like the idea of not making yet another attempt to directly translate the classic games into a movie with the same story and characters. I genuinely believe there is so much potential in this zombie-infested world, especially when it comes to spin-off stories and new characters. Just look at the files found throughout the games, such as the Keeper’s Diary. There is incredible material there for psychological horror, following an infected person gradually losing their humanity and turning into a zombie.

Every one of us can tell a story, but not everyone can tell a great one.

Silent Hill: Townfall drops in five days. Hang in there, people. It should help fill the void left by the lack of a Requiem DLC while we wait for the Code: Veronica remake.

Almost right after theaters I watched 2002 resident evil to compare.... at the very least, the first mila movie was much better than this one.  much more entertaining. characters are competent. there are interesting dynamics, twists, and tons of resident evil lore/easter eggs. it has both suspense and action while making umbrella corporation seem like a serious threat.
