Her reference to a praying wife makes me think she has been influenced by the book 'the power of a praying wife' which includes the stuff about 'what are you doing wrong' and the guilt over much smaller issues made to be barriers to his change. The book also makes the hype about praying as hard as you possibly can, and fasting is seen as a sign of commitment to 'prayer plus' .
