Which Reptile Heat Panel Is Best? | Reptirad, Habistat & Heka Review

Looking for the perfect heat panel for your reptile enclosure? In this long-overdue review, I compare three of the most popular options available in the UK: the Reptirad, Habistat Reptile Radiator, and Heka Wärmplatte.

Over the past few years, I've used each of these heat panels in various setups, and in this video, I share my personal experiences — what worked, what didn’t, and which one I’d recommend based on performance, reliability, and value for money.

Whether you keep snakes, lizards, or other exotics, this quick guide will help you make an informed decision for your reptiles’ heating needs.

Great video!... Been wondering about this very subject for couple year's already. Appreciate ypu doing all the hard work for all keepers out there 👍

Q?.... With a two foot high viv' celling do you think they are able to project enough heat with needed a basking shelf or a guard?
Thanks in advance!

You can’t fault the design, but you can fault the quality - if it doesn’t work!

As far as I'm aware, the Reptile Radiator has been discontinued by Habistat.

Great video mate but what thermostat do you recommend to use with a reptile radiator

@danielmerrell8926 1 year ago

best heater i have ever used is the dimplex greenhouse tubular heaters had one running 2 years without a beat so far and the 40watt is only £21.00!!!

I no longer use heat panels: when they fail, they are a bit of a hassle to replace, whereas a screw in ceramic emitter is as easy as changing a lamp. I used the habistat panels, but had to replace one after about four years, and the second one failed after about three more years. I used a 250 watt AHS unit in another enclosure, and that also failed after a few years. These things are also far more expensive than ceramic emitters.

Great vid, very informative. What wattage are the Heka warm plates available in ?

@DarrenSouthall-b9k 1 year ago

Did you have to pay import duty on the Heka panels?

Retics and Reptiles Ltd no longer works with the Reptirads (or at all, I don’t think!), that’ll be why they aren’t getting back to you.

ReptiRad is now its own trading entity. But I’m not sure they’ll honour any warranty from the old company. May be worth a go!

Great video. I’ve had an IMCage for a while now that came with the heat plate which has worked well.
I’ve just received another plate that I ordered for a new setup with an IMcage.
What screw/bolt do you use to attach it the roof and can I just cut the cable to put on a uk plug(not worried about the warranty)?
Thanks
