What isn't mentioned is that these Northern California properties are all in areas where home owner's insurance is criminally overpriced because of forest fire fears and the Government allowing PG&E to file bankruptcy rather than pay their bills.

All of these houses have higher than average crime rates, high fire danger with limited ways to evacuate, and garbage for electric companies. There's a reason they're so low cost.

That first home is a dream
If the person upgrades a few things like the roof, sidings to concrete, and clears flammable debris from around the property can significantly increase the chances of getting required insurance

Better make sure the power hungry state fire marshall didn't put these properties on the fire map or your insurance is going to be INSANE.
I do not advise buying a home in California.

18:40 Having all your solar panels on trailers is a double edged sword. I would sink a few pieces of 30ft drilling pipe, fill with concrete, welded to the trailers. Make the thieves work for it and adds to wind resistance.

Would it make sense to buy just the land then demolish the house and put a tiny home in the place. Clear a mile or so fire wall. Put a home in without buying any insurance.

Well,for less than 100 thousand…it’s worth taking a flyer.Its making me think.And if Jane Kim becomes insurance commissioner…she explains how the insurance company’s are charging 50% more than needed and then when when there is a catastrophic event.They refuse to pay out.She wants to do a state insurance for 50% less!
