I was on the bus the other day. Pulled out a physical book and noticed shortly after that several people were glancing at me. With phones in their hands. Almost like I was an unknown being to them.

the reason we rely on dopamine in general is because dopamine isnt something addicting, or bad, its anything but that. dopamine is the very reason we are motivated to do things. when you go to the gym and hit your pr you feel absolutely amazing like you could do anything thats because of the dopamine being released in your brain. when we go out on walks and fell the warm sunlight it releases dopamine and makes us feel better and motivated. the only time its bad is when your getting it excessively and easily (doonscrolling). its fine when you play video games or watch netflix or youtube from time to time as long as your balancing your sources of dopamine. but when we watch tiktok we get addicted because of the constant stimulus that it provides. it rewires your brain to want that extremely good and easy-to-get dopamine. heres a quote that covers it. "social media moves at 1000 mph while real life moves at 1 mph"

I will be honest, i have tried a few times already to disable YouTube shorts but since there is not an option to do so, later or sooner they start appearing again and ill be honest (again) most times they are interesting, like made to hook you again. I swear ill leave this platform, i left tiktok once i saw a vídeo running on background on a tiktok for full dopamine liberation, i felt it was too much, it crossed a line for me, if YouTube does not implement an option to completely get rid of shorts i will leave it
