I bought a Mosin Nagant with a hex receiver made in 1934 in like new condition complete with everything and all matching numbers for $89.99, best 90 bucks I ever spent.

Nagant was the first patent troll

Have an 1891 Mosin made in 1899.

Love my all original circa 1893 Garbage Rod.  Incredibly accurate.

1945 was the last year of production for the M9130, I scored one of the mysterious post production 9130s at a known gunshop..
A 1946 !

The 1889 trials rifles were all 3.15 line (8mm) rifles, the 1890 trials were all 3-line. As with most military titles, the cartridge was developed and settled on before the rifles. There were short rifles (M/91 dragoon and M/91 cossack) and carbines (M1907) issued by Russia in WWI. Hex receivers remained in production until 1935 at Izhevsk and 1936 at Tula...and laminate stocks came into use in the USSR for the same reason they did in Germany around the same time - laminated wood is stable without the need for kiln-drying, so can be produced much faster.

I’m fortunate enough to own one of those Remington Mosins. It has both the Romanov eagle Remington stamped on the receiver and the Romanov acceptance eagle the Russian inspectors gave it.  So it was accepted into Russian service but never made it to Russian because of the Russian Revolution. It also doesn’t have any US markings on it so it was sold privately before the US government stepped in to save Remington and Westinghouse. The Blue Books gives it a high dollar value and I won’t sell it for anything. As you said, it’s a great piece of history.

I have a hex recover 1929, between ears the smiths took their time and quality went up!!

I saw a picture once of my great grandfather, who served in the US military during WWI (I think army air corps), in uniform with a Mosin rifle. Not sure if the picture was taken in the US or the UK but I think they were issued to US soldiers as training rifles as well as issued during the US's brief involvement in the Russian Civil war near Archangel. A huge chunk of the world's militaries has issued the Mosin rifle to their troops at one point or another. I have a battered 1942 dated 91/30 which still runs well and is fun to shoot. I'd like to get a bayonet and a sling at some point just for shits and giggles.

I hand load for my Mosin Nagant…. I am amazed beyond comprehension as to why such a crudely made rifle shoots so accurate with my hand loads.
0.6 MOA…. Wtf???? Really? I have built custom rifles in my shop… and had to spend time with load development to get them to do that good. My mosin clunker…. 1st load test.. boom! Throws a 0.6 MOA…. I am irritated but pleasantly so.

I have 5,  M91's and two,  M44's.  The last one I bought, years ago for 100.00.  I also have two Nagant pistols.

I still have eight left from my original collection..3 hex receivers all from the 20's and 30's......5 round walls..they are all in excellent condition..shoot well...very accurate at 100 yds..they hang proudly on my wall..they have been reblued in some cases..accuratized by myself...I bought a sniper model from Big5 in Pismo Beach for 559.00 back in 2008...they had no idea what was hanging on that wall..the original scope numbers were etched in but of course the scope was newer..still..the real deal.  I like mil surp..I'm 77,  a veteran..I bought my first Mosin Nagant from a marine on Okinawa in 1965..a battlefield pickup for 15.00 dollars..how about that?

I recently bought a Mosin Negant that I believe is a cadet rifle made about 1916-1918 by Remington. There iare no gun sights and no serial numbers. Interesting history!

If, indeed, your M44 carbine was produced in 1944 then its laminated stock is, most likely, a refurbished post-war stock. Until 1945 there was no production of laminated stocks in the Soviet Union for the Mosins. Mass production of laminated stocks started in the mid 1950's (some trials were made in the late 1940's). The laminated stocks were introduced to eliminate warpage due to moisture, not because the Soviets didn't have enough wood (lol).

The 91/30 is a couple of inches shorter than the original 3 line rifle, IIRC. Most nations shortened their service rifles around the very early 20th century. That's why you had the K98 mauser being called a "carbine" and the British using the Short Magazine Lee Enfield. The Russians didn't shorten the Mosin until the 91/30 update and they didn't shorten it as much as any of the other nations. This is aside from the obviously much shorter carbine pattern Mosins such as pictured here.

I find it interesting American companies that’ll clone a Kalashnikov but completely neglect the Mosin Nagant.

I bought a Mosin back in the 80s for 50 bucks. Literally picked it out of a barrel of them. It's a 1939 model made in Tula and got an SKS at the same place for $65 and spam cans of ammo for each at $30 a pop. Now they're going for upwards of $1K, that's nuckin futs!

The only Mosin that I have is an M44 carbine. It's nice but one of the previous owners chromed/nickel-plated it(yuck 🤢🤮) and removed the rear sight, slapping on a cheap red dot. It was missing the bayonet so I ordered one, along with the necessary mounting hardware and a replacement rear carbine sight for it. I've mounted the bayonet but haven't had a chance to fix the rear sight and shoot it. But all in good time. Thankfully I have a care kit so in the meantime I practice cleaning it and caring for it. Overall an informative and excellent video. 😎👍

I have a 1943 91/30 Izzy. No import serial number stamped on the receiver so it had to be a bring home after WWII. The wood is almost flawless and after sighting it, shoots well. All I did was reblue the barrel and receiver. She draws a crowd at the range when I take her  out. Full disclosure: It took many hours of barrel cleaning to realize it wasn’t a smooth bore barrel. The rifling is still very good.

I bought a moisin for 99 bucks at the big 5. It had a sloppy bolt and the trigger pull varied between 2 and 8 lbs depending on where the trigger and the sear met. Be careful if you have an old one. Was gonna bush the rear of the bolt but sold it.
