Everything remained peaceful+++Football derby HSV - St. Pauli - HSV fans' march caused traffic chaos+++
Before the city derby, around 3,000 HSV fans started their march from Schanzenpark to Millerntor Stadium. A large police presence was out on Hamburg's streets.
In anticipation of the clash between the two clubs, Hamburg police are even basing their measures on the G20 summit of 2017, which was marred by serious riots. They announced extensive photo and video recordings, which may be subsequently reviewed. Police spokesman Timo Zill said: "This is our clear message to all football hooligans."
Hours before kickoff, the Hamburg football derby was already impacting traffic. As the police announced via Twitter, a large group of HSV fans blocked Stresemannstrasse near the Holstenstrasse S-Bahn station. The main thoroughfare in this area was completely closed in both directions around 4 p.m.
Police briefly halted the fan march because several people were masked. A few firecrackers were thrown and blue pyrotechnics were set off.
The march caused massive traffic disruptions throughout the city center, which only eased in the evening. ©Loritus News – All rights reserved.
