Heres somthing cool I figured out the other day. I did an oval vector and made a "bowl" recess, then I took a nice photo of my wife and put it in chat gpt. My exact prompt was..
Analyze the uploaded image and re-render it into a technically flawless, master-level 3D Z-depth map (heightmap) optimized for 3D CNC carving.
Strict Technical Constraints:
- Output must be a true grayscale heightmap where pixel brightness correlates exactly to 3D elevation.
- The closest, highest foreground elements must be crisp, solid white.
- Mid-ground layers must fade through ultra-smooth, continuous, non-banded gradients of gray.
- The absolute deepest background layer must be solid, flat, uniform black (RGB 0,0,0).
- NO outlines, NO sketch textures, NO pencil shading, and NO artificial ambient occlusion shadows.
- Ensure all organic surfaces are perfectly blended and smooth, eliminating sharp pixel steps to guarantee a glass-smooth finish for a ball-nose CNC router bit.
Then I took that photo over to vectric aspire, smoothed it out a bit and it looked fantastic for milling as a wall hanging! I've yet to carve it out because I've been busy but the software simulation of the carve looked very good. Im excited to try er out over the weekend!
Thanks for all the videos, keep em commin! Cheers from Vancouver Island!
