For me the test of a good book is when you are so engaged you miss the station where you are supposed to get off the train!

You 2 are a podcast made in heaven. I could watch Dominic’s face cheerily smiling whilst Tabby joyfully reads aloud. Keep it up guys

Loved The Talented Mr. Ripley! I also saw the film in the theater and it was an odd experience. It was at a small independent theater and at the end, everyone got up and walked out silently. I've never seen an audience react like that before.

A month in the Country! What a book! So glad you’re covering this one.

Tabby’s comment about running out of reading material resonates with me as it reminded me of a gift I got from a child in my class at the end of one academic year. At some point during the year I had told the class that I never went anywhere without a book, so if I got stuck/ held up I would always have something to read, and this lovely little boy gifted me a book token, as he said my comment had stuck with him.

This is the third and final summer that I'll be reading a book in the Earthsea trilogy. I accidentally started reading one a summer and look forward to it now. I think, once I finish Earthsea, I'll move onto her other week for some summer reading.

The still pictures of plays in the Agatha Christie section have Bernard Cornwell acting on stage. Easter egg I guess.

THE question that no one seems to ask (or I have missed it), is how the hell did you two find each other and decide you would make a good Book-Tube team?  And, do you ever plan to do one of your videos where you share one camera.
You are so good together it is almost other worldly.

The frustration from And Then There Were None stems from the fact that as a reader, there simply is no way you can guess the ending. You're not allowed to take the information, put the pieces together, and figure it out. You're totally hit with a surprise ending.

I’m so pleased that you are going to feature ‘A month in the country ‘ . It really deserves a wider audience.

Encountered “And Then There Were None” in a neighborhood Little Free Library while walking my dog this evening, mere days before my vacation is set to begin. When fate itself seconds a recommendation, one must take it.

I loved The Name of the Rose and Gorky Park

My most racy trashy novel as a preteen was “ Peyton Place“. 😉
It was when the book just came to my attention, in the late 1960s , before the TV series, BTW… and I was able to get a copy. I was very privileged as a child that I had absolutely no censoring of what I could read and so I don’t even think my parents knew I was reading it. It was great! I felt so grown up.😊

The winter king! Never heard anybody mention one of my favourite trilogies of all time!

A summer visiting my grandparents on Lake Michigan...I must have been about 11.
Found an old copy of "Forever Amber" by Kathleen Winsor while exploring the attic....
it gave me a lifelong love of Stuart England & the Restoration period as well as a great interest in plagues!
Didn't know that on publication in 1944 this immediate bestseller was banned in 14 American states for obscenity (pregnancies out of wedlock and women removing their clothing!).
I hadn't finished it before we were set to return home and asked to take it with me.
I still have it among my books.
Later summer reads that I have loved:
"Julian" by Gore Vidal
&
"I, Claudius" by Robert Graves

I sat on a lanai in Florida and read Origin of Species when I was 33. Best week of my life.

For people travelling by train to or from their holiday destination, I highly recommend The Wheel Spins by Ethel Lina White, published in 1936.  Hitchcock based his film The lady Vanishes on this book. Suspense guaranteed!

My favorite summer read is “To Say Nothing of the Dog” by Connie Willis. Time travel, floating down the Thames in a boat. Lots of fun book references.

I recommend The Summer Before the War by Helen Simonson. It takes place in a small English town right before WWI. All three of her books are wonderful, I've read each of them at least twice. I have a feeling that Tabitha and Dominic will be keen on this author if they haven't already read her.

In a recent show you answered the question 'which book do you wish was longer' or words to that effect. A Month in the Country is one that I wish was longer. It's utterly sublime and I shall look forward to that episode. Also, anything by Elizabeth von Armin. Her books are always too short but if you're looking for a short book for a short holiday you could do worse than The Caravaners. It's hilarious. I think Evil Under the Sun is another Christie book set on the same island and that's another favourite holiday read for me.
