Hong Kong, 1968. Sifu Wong Kwok-wai had spent 26 years practicing Wing Chun. He ran his own school in Kowloon with more than 60 students and carried a reputation known throughout Hong Kong’s martial arts circles. But he had also come to believe that Bruce Lee was teaching something exaggerated — something that needed to be tested in front of witnesses.

One morning he walked into Bruce Lee’s school without warning, crossed the training floor without invitation, and challenged him directly in front of 28 students. Bruce Lee listened quietly and replied with just one word: “Alright.”

What followed lasted only three minutes — but it changed everything. Six brief exchanges, each revealing something Wong had never encountered before. By the end, the man who came to question Bruce Lee’s methods found himself bowing on the same wooden floor, asking to learn from the person he had come to challenge.

Bruce Lee accepted — with one condition. Wong would continue teaching his own students and carry back what he learned.
