"I'm hurting my team" - lore accurate Illari

I’m bronze 2 on DPS and I’m proud: I’m a fully employed unc who is BAD at videogames. Love you all, wish I was better at overwatch, but ok with how I’m living.

This Illari has so much potential! With Emongg's advice, I'm sure they will climb out of bronze in no time!!!

Playing Illari on attack is kinda like climbing a cliff face. You push up a little bit and then find a good place to secure your piton and anchor yourself. On the back of signs and just around corners are good places to put it. This gives your team a safer place to hang out and wait for their abilities to come off cool down to give them the strength to climb farther.

Another tip for Illari: her mobility ability has a different range whether you hold it or press it, and if you do it after jumping while not pressing any movement keys you get higher which can allow you to make it onto more of the high grounds aiding in escapes, and aggressive positioning.

Ngl, these guys play weaver/kiri with no drop-off projectile and don't bother to shoot a pylon that's on their face. Kinda amusing

Loved this Video. As an Illari QP warrior, I'd love to get better at her. As I've played her, during my better matches, I have little issue getting decent damage in, or outdamaging my dps at times.
I know that my weakpoints right now are target priority, catching opportunities for my ult and pylon placement. So this helps quite a lot.

At some point a 'flank' becomes "I'm playing some other match entirely"

Playing a lot of Illari lately and this review has helped a lot with getting into the right mindset. Really enjoy your coaching style, appreciate that it feels constructive and respectful, which makes it a lot easier to learn from. Excited to check out some of the other spectating vids!

Edit for anyone interested: Just hit silver! I actually have been playing mostly Mercy I can’t lie but I’m happy and having fun :)

Hi, the Illari here! After watching this I’ve gotten a little better with my pylons. Usually I have them well hidden because I tend to treat it like my most precious possession (in QP I’ll hard target anyone who breaks it 💔).
I really appreciate all the commentary given, and even the chat when watching the vod pointing out my bad habit of jumping around worsening my aim.
I got away with a lot more than I should’ve this game, risked my pylon more than I needed, and really showcased my inability to hit shots and quickly react.
Also the Mercy swap: I usually have pretty decent movement with her (not necessarily good) but this was just an odd game for me. I swapped to her because I was planning to stress bounce my bear but got annoyed too fast and swapped back 🙂‍↕️
I’ve been pretty hard on myself since I’m not as far as my friends and sister (all who have played a lot longer than me) so I’m happy to remember I’m bronze and get some tips, thank you 🩵

7:19 a reverse map flip in Bronze. interesting strategy

My aim sucks garbage, in part because I never grew up with shooters and in part because my hands shake a lot when under pressure. Whenever I play Illari and do flanks like this, I end up triggered my ult with melees since I can't hit for shit lol. Ult trigger is ult trigger! xD

Whenever you aren’t flanking and have ult, try to coordinate with your team. If your team is given a heads up, they’ll be ready to deal damage on those hit by ult. Also, work on illari’s movement ability. There were times you used it and the movement didn’t make an impact or it unintentionally moved a teammate closer to an enemy.

"Sometimes you gotta solo halt and Oog" is solid advice

This Illari video is a great demonstration on how broken Sierra's design is. I'm sure 30% more sustain single target damage than the next highest is fine.😆At least she isn't ~60% win rate in bronze anymore, I guess she did force bronze players to utilize cover more.

Watching the first 2 minutes of this makes me feel great of how I play her because that's all or most of how I indeed play her. I do feel confident in trying out Comp with her.

6:34 I wish more of my teammates would do this. When I'm not playing support, I hate it when I get support players who try to do more dmg than heals, and they don't do a good job of balancing between heals and dmg.

gold illari here im still finding this useful!

I love how the enemy team completely forgot about Illari not once but twice lmao. That will only work in Bronze haha,

Its funny because i see more echos then sierras in Plat / Diamond. Sure youll still see her in 6v6. Interesting how different hero metas exist in different ranks
