S9 Ep2 - The Pamlico Sound is a hotbed on the east coast for big bull redfish and we're back on the water again with Captain Scooter Lilley! We typically use popping corks but the conditions have been less than perfect so we're falling back on tradition and drum rigs with cut bait for these Giants!

My PB was a 48" Bull in Oregon Inlet, two weeks ago I got a 36" fish in the mouth of Adams Creek and the Neuse. Love catching our state fish!

I’ve caught most drum in super choppy water we fished in Sarah Jane’s last year and actually won some money and it was super rough, everyone loves the popping corks but I’ve still yet to have much luck with them, I still always try to use them

You would think that if the NCME Foundation wanted a thriving fishery, they wouldn't want to continue allowing trawling and gill nets to constantly kill fish and destroy their habitat, right?

Caught my PB Redfish at the same area. 37 inches from a kayak. Raleigh/Burlington native!!

What is the best setup for bull reds? 4500 or 5000 reel on a 20-40 lb 7' med-heavy rod? 40 lb leader?
I have 6500 & 7500 reels on 6'-6" heavy rods with 90 lb braid for shark fishing but seem too heavy for bull red fishing.

What month do they begin their spawn in the pamlice? We usually start fishing for em in mid August but I’ve always wondered when they show up.
