Scarbrand fighting against Guilliman wielding the Emperor's Sword is literally a win-win scenario for him. He kills Guilliman, and he gets to brag about beating a Primarch that had the ability to completely erase him, and then claim said weapon. He dies to Guilliman, and he gets the satisfaction of both dying in glorious combat against a worthy opponent and never having to put up with Khorne ever again.

There's nothing magical about a giant flaming sword wielded by a giant fire breathing demon who's magical aura makes things spontaneously bleed out of their eyes.

On Sorcery and Betrayal:

- Sorcery: I would posit that what Khorne despises is Magic/Sorcery that displaces/usurps the use/role of martial skill/physical violence. So making a magic sword to kill people better? All good. Casting fireball when you could be casting *these hands*? Strictly verboten!

- Betrayal: It's not the violence that's objectionable, it's the *scheming*. Khorne doesn't object if you stab the guy next to you, even if you were stabbing alongside him a moment before. Khorne objects to you having planned to do that all along, as opposed to getting caught up in the bloodlust.

Kharn doesn't plot his betrayals, he just really wants the blood to flow.

The talk of the Gods overlapping is why I always like The Great Beast of Chaos Undivided. All chaos is violent. All mutation is change. Everything bad about chaos is about the excesses. This all leads to ruin and decay.

The talk about Lucius misses the bit where his form of immortality is kind of a funny back handed insult from Slaanesh

Iirc, the first time he died it was to absolute gigachad Nykona Sharrowkyn of the Raven Guard, who openly stated that he took no pride in it, saying it was akin to putting down a mad dog

In a way, every resurrection of Lucius is a reminder of his most humiliating moment

When Roboute Guilliman is fighting Ku'Gath's Great Unclean Ones on Iax one of them sees him coming, looks at the Emperor's Sword, and then cuts his own head off to avoid being permanently destroyed by the sword.

There is a specific term for what Kirioth mentioned about  "strong character gets instantly destroyed to show how badass/dangerous a new character is". Its a known trope called "the Worf Effect", named after how Worf (from Star Trek: Next Generation), a member of a supposedly badass warrior culture, is often instantly knocked out when encountering new antagonists.
