Dock is one of those players you hear and just can't understand why it took so long to discover.

I love dock. I can pick and sing about 15 of his tunes.

Nice to see that there are 254 people somewhere on this planet who also dig Dock Boggs.

Dock Boggs was, to me, one of the greatest roots musicians in the history of American traditional music. Listen to his early 1920s recordings on Brunswick and Lonesome Ace and you will understand why.

Great video! While watching it, I was kept thinking the story sounds so familiar and turns out I had also been reading about Mississippi John Hurt recently, who also had a resurgence on the same anthology collection. Such an interesting period of history where all these great musicians were almost lost to time but ended up inspiring the next generation of folk and blues music.

As a Virginian and someone who's been listening to dock boggs since their teens, I truly appreciate this video. It'd be awesome to see you cover the stories of more banjo players.

Whether or not you find his music palatable to the modern ear, none can dispute his influence on the genre!

His recordings carry the scent his times.

I had a banjo teacher at Old Town School of Folk Music teach my class that Dock was the MAN.

Mike Seeger was responsible for bringing a number of great musicians to the "new generation", including Elizabeth Cotton (Freight Train" and Morgan Sexton, with his amazing banjo and vocal styles. Enjoyed this piece.

Dock was awesome. Got me into banjo 10 years ago. Blew my mind when I first heard it. Learned 6 or 7 of his songs dock style, since switched to clawhammer but I need to get around to learning Mother’s Advice. Damn that song almost makes me cry every time.
