Matt Damon's movies have raked in billions of dollars at the global box office. And people on the internet even calculated that humanity has spent nearly a trillion dollars saving his characters. For millions of viewers, he'll forever be Jason Bourne, the genius that is Will Hunting, or the astronaut from The Martian. But off screen, Matt Damon's life story turned out to be no less fascinating than his most famous films. His fiercest "enemy," Jimmy Kimmel, is actually his close friend — and their public humiliation of each other has been going on for over twenty years now. Matt Damon became one of Hollywood's most famous dramatic actors, even though his only Oscar wasn't for acting — it was for the screenplay of Good Will Hunting, written together with his best childhood friend, Ben Affleck.
He's the one and only Matt Damon. And in today's video, you'll find out: how did a regular English homework assignment snowball into an Oscar-winning screenplay and open the doors to big Hollywood for Matt Damon and Ben Affleck? What line made his own daughter declare a boycott against Damon and forced him to publicly apologize? And how, after a string of high-profile movie flops, did he manage to revive his career and transform into Jason Bourne — the hero of one of the most successful spy franchises of the twenty-first century?
