to be honest, the most difficult choice is what name you give to your Mabari.

The hardest choice i make everyday is trying to resist the urge to start another playtrough... again.....

Varric is usually a talkative person. When he found out that you left him behind in the fade was pretty much the first time he was speechless really shows how hard he took it and was truly heartbreaking.

So in my world state it was up to Alistair and Hawke. Ultimately I chose to sacrifice Hawke. Hawke was one of my favorite characters despite how bad many people thought Dragon Age 2 was. Hawke was a very emotional character. He did nothing but lose. He lost both siblings, his mother, and his city. So in my eyes, I gave Hawke one last chance to go out swinging so that he can sacrifice himself for the greater good and finally be at peace with the rest of his family.

I usually sacrifice Hawke to the fade purely because I feel like, with their track record, they have the best chance of somehow surviving that nightmare lol

I hated the decision of "here lies the abyss" so much that i went back to origins and got Loghain as my warden so i could sacrifice him then. It also felt like a good end for his story arc, so there was that.

The first time I played Origins I played as a Dwarf Noble. I remember how I couldn't wait to go back to Orzammar and get my revenge. But after doing quests and talking to the NPCs I came to the conclusion that Bhelen would be the best for the city in the long run. I wanted to kill him for his betrayal but he was the better option. Love these choices, all were incredibly difficult to decide!

"When you gaze into the Abyss do not be afraid to leap. For it is when you fall that you learn whether you can fly." Flemith to Hawke at their final meeting.

I had Alistair and Anora as King and queen of Ferelden in my world state, so he was safe, instead Straud got sacrificed.  Yes the wardens were left leaderless, however I took them in as allies to help them get back on their feet.  I made Bhelen king of Orzammar because of how much he improves life for the dwarves, despite how impulsive and radical he is.  I spared the Architect because I saw the potential benefit of Darkspawn being free from the call of the Archdemons, his plan of turning everyone into Grey Wardens is slightly worrying though, and just because they are free from the Archdemons' influence it does not mean that they couldn't band together and attack without one.  I spared Anders because I understood why he destroyed the Chantry and sparked the war.  Mages were constantly being oppressed by the Chantry and Templars, being treated more like dangerous beasts that need to be corraled rather than people who simply have a power they do not understand.  There will always be the risk of a mage being posessed by a demon or one turning to blood magic, but treating them that way only encourages them to turn to those things as a means of escape.  I could see the templar order being reformed in a way that they still train to deal with mages and demons, but instead are paired with a mage as their protector and companion.

Something I want to add to the discussion: When choosing who stays in the Fade the little note you see when hovering on the choice says 'whoever stays behind is likely to die' Likely. This could mean that whoever stayed behind could survive. Bioware does love its vague wording

Even without romancing Anders I really struggled with weather to kill him or not. Mostly because he was my Hawke's best friend and my mage Hawke had up to that point been on board with Ander's actions. He decidedly didn't approve of what Anders did to the Chantry but he couldn't bring himself to be the one to kill him. He pretty much said as much.

Fun fact, if you romanced anders and kept high affinity with Fenris you can actually convince Fenris it's no different than freeing the slaves because in a way the mages are slaves themselves and you can have both fight beside you.

The only reason what makes me choose to leave Hawke behind simply because of the big dialog/prophecy that Flemeth says to Hawke in DA2 where “we stand on the very edge of change, we we looking down from the cliff of the abyss. Watch for that moment and it is in that moment that you will find out that you can fly.”

I know that I am paraphrasing for the most part, but with Flemeth’s ability of foresight and talking in riddles, I really do think that Flemeth was speaking of that moment of Hawke and the Inquisitor in the fade and in that moment he/she was deciding that they are the ones that must remain behind.

For me, I found the whole 'who kills the archdemon' thing to be one of my hardest choices, as well as who should drink from the well of sorrows.

I agree with the fact that these are hard decisions, but origins especially does a good job of giving you all the information you need... if you look for it. You really don't need hindsight or to read the epilogue to be able to deduce that decisions like bhelen are better than harrowmont for many reasons, or why who sides with who at the landsmeet (or a small one like don't spread the chantry to orzammar!). Most people don't read codexs or stop and talk to everyone, but the game rewards players that do!

Romancing alistair, and knowing about the decision to leave alistair vs hawke in the fade. I had made the decision not to do the dark ritual and kill the arch demon with my warden, then later I leave alistair in the fade so that they can be together in the fade, and then when alistair jumped in front of my warden to take the killing blow it broke my heart and I still haven’t recovered

i remember choosing to support bhelen because when i had a conversation with the shaperate, the shaper mentioned that bhelen is inquiring to the shaperate about the blight. so that made me think, he is very serious in ending the blight and helping the grey wardens.

Given I had a male human Noble, the outcome of the Landsmeet was pretty straightforward:  Since Alistair wasn't really keen on being king in the first place (and it would be awkward to have a warden on the throne anyway), I let Anora on the throne, became her consort on paper to keep her on a short leash, (at least until I absconded with Morrigan) and made Loghain undergo the joining. He'd been responsible for the death of a number of wardens, so it was fitting that he filled up the ranks. Plus he'd be a prime candidate for killing the archdemon if Morrigan's plan didn't work out.

And in the end, he got to make the sacrifice in Inquisition...

I was like 15 since I last played 2, but I always spared Anders cuz he was my healer. And I dated him in my first playthrough

I know this might be kind of evil, but I have it so my world state always has Loghain as the warden, so I pick him, one final act of heroism to make up for leaving his king behind
