Thx for the exiting update!
I would prefer to see a RVA23 compliant mini pc:
Development boards are probably the cheapest way to get the hardware, but I would be prepared to pay extra if someone puts it in a mini pc box with the usual ports such as USB, HDMI etc.
I asked Google AI about Mini pcs, and he told me about a Japanese RISC-V mini pc from a company called Vividnode, based on a SpacemiT K3 SOC. But I don't see it for sale here in Europe.
-Variable-length extensions can complicate decode. Mixing the base 32-bit instructions with the compressed C extension (16-bit) adds decode complexity.
-The calling convention and ABI have been revised over time, which is a sign of a maturing but not fully settled design.
-Lack of a strong memory model historically — the RVWMO (RISC-V Weak Memory Ordering) model is flexible but more complex to reason about than TSO (used by x86), which can complicate parallel software.
-No mature SIMD story yet. The Vector extension (V) is ratified but nowhere near as optimized in real silicon as ARM NEON/SVE or x86 AVX-512.
RISC-V is architecturally sound but microarchitecturally immature. The ISA doesn't have fundamental flaws that would prevent it from eventually matching ARM performance — but it will take significant TIME and MONEY to close the gap.

"33.7% market penetration by 2031" is a strangely precise prediction. They're going to look fools when it's 33.8%.
