Nice one. You must have heard the stories of the German businessman who daily'd his F1 and hit over 200mph every day on the autobahn. Mclaren only found out when they went to service it and pulled up the telemetry.

That induction roar is second to none!!!

I once saw one through the window of a show room on London's Park Lane in 1997. It was silver. I would like to believe that my friend's and my nose prints are still on the outside of the window. We probably gazed at that F1 for 15 minutes or so.

I lost my eye sight in 1999, and therefore the McLaren F1 will forever be the most beautiful car I have ever seen.

There has been NO 30-year-old car in history that motor journalists have described the way you and your lucky peers talk about the F1 today. And I don't believe that any current car will take this spot on the podium…EVER!

"McLaren F1" is still my answer to the age old question of "money no object, what car would you have?" and has been ever since I was 13, and very much already a petrolhead, when I got see one at the '92 NEC show.
And it's for all the same aspects you highlighted Chris, the intake sound, the engine, the throttle response, the gearbox, the middle seat, the supple suspension; plus loads of others (I'll save you from me going on and on).
Suffice to say it's absolute perfection in my eyes. Loved the vid Chris.

This 8:40 is better than 99% of automotive content on YouTube. It takes me back to when Chris first drove the Veyron at night. Brilliant. What a machine.

The fact the car is 30 years old & looks more modern than pretty much every car today is incredible. It still holds up in the performance department as well. Simply put its in the category or the Bugatti Veyron & the Enzo Ferrari in the best cars ever made.

I still can’t believe that to this day its still the world’s fastest naturally aspirated production car that doesn’t have more than a 1000 horsepower or dual clutch pdks to achieve its top speed. Just a simple manual gearbox not too much electrical interference and a central driving position with more luggage space than any of its modern day competitors and even counterparts. I know its all just packaging but it is an engineering masterpiece and a marvel to this day. Hatsoff to BMW for making that engine.
