Yes, that's Freddie's handwriting. He wrote the lyrics while looking out his window at Lake Geneva, where his statue stands now.
It's remarkable that he was able to not only be reflective but feel real joy at the beauty in the world even though he knew his life was ending. What an extraordinary man he was, in so many ways.💙

That was the last song Freddie actually wrote. He wrote it while looking out the window in Switzerland when they were there toward the end recording because they couldn’t work in London due to him being hounded by paparazzi. It’s a beautiful song.
It’s fitting his statue is there over looking the lake he loved so well.
Yes. That’s Freddie’s actual handwriting and the thing that looked like Freddie’s arm extended up is a reflection of his statue that’s there.
He was actually getting an IV treatment and just looking out the window and got inspiration and made those notes on paper that we see on the screen during the song.
BTW- he did that song in One Take!

So many times in grief I have visited a lakeside place to watch the whole continuity of life, as waves come and go. But I wonder if I were dying, could I see this beauty as he did? What a beautiful spirit.

This is an appreciation of life and the beauty of it. How can a man being so close to death sing like this and be in such a wonderous frame of mind. Yes they are Freddie's hand written lyrics and the statue is overlooking the lake. This is one of the most beautiful and poignant songs written.

Beautiful video for a beautiful song of a beautiful place. Montreux, Switzerland where the band recorded at the casino complex. Some trivia for you, there had been a fire there which inspired the Deep Purple song "Smoke on the Water". Queen first recorded there in 1978 to avoid the taxman and lastly in 1991 to avoid the paparazzi hounding Freddie. Freddie's apartment looked out over the lake and was a calm, beautiful, inspiring retreat for him. The statue of him is there with Brian May's inscription Lover of Life, Singer of Songs. This was recorded after the Innuendo album and he recorded the vocal and keyboard parts live in one take knowing that he didn't have long. The other 3 finished it after he was gone knowing how Freddie wanted it to sound. Since it is that time of year you might want to listen to Queen's only Christmas song "Thank God It's Christmas" written by Roger and Brian.

Freddie particularly loved the swans on Lake Geneva. As long as he could comfortably do so, he would walk to the shore to see them. At the end he could no longer stay in the rustic Duck House and had an apartment nearby.

Beautiful😢 now you have to do no one but you only the good die young. Yes that’s his hand writing. ♥️

I just am so moved by this song, the composition and the delivery and the emotions behind it. I liked how Brian described it as "pure observation.." I never knew that. Thank you. I used to subscribe to a whole lot of reactors. Now I only subscribe to you two, because of the depth and thoughtfulness of your reactions and how you relate to one another. And because of the respect you show towards the artists and their work.

Thank you TBP father for recommending this song. It is so beautifully sublime. It makes you happy and sad at the same time.

The imagine you wondered about is a pic of Freddie from Wembley 86 at the end when he comes out with his cape and crown.

I absolutely love this - Freddie singing out his thoughts and emotions in such a beautiful way. I heard it once before, but couldn't remember the name and never found it again till now, so thank you.

Your father is so right there isn’t much that dedicated Queen fans don’t know, about the band.

Love that you guys are getting into all these details. Yes we Queen junkies usually know all the details like where he wrote this song gazing out the window and that it is INDEED his handwriting from the lyrics. Most reaction videos don’t do all this so... GREAT! -and I’ve said it before, love the large screen of the video and you smaller. Great channel I always watch now! 👏🏼👏🏼
One of these days I will get to Montreux and see Freddie’s statue, the recording studio museum, and also all the others — bronze Deep Purple, Charlie Chaplin and his grave, The Emptiness, Vladimir Nabokov, and maybe even someday... Freddie’s birthday party in September!!!!

Beautiful song!!!
I love it !!!
Thanks for this video 🥰
This song has a sad story behind. I share with you guys!!
“The hardest track to record was probably 'A Winters Tale' for emotional and technical reasons. The singing was done over two weeks , every two days some rest for Freddie and then waiting for him to be well enough to come and sing a little bit more again.”
David Richards, productor de los últimos albums de QUEEN
