This film was better than expected! The musical bits were well composed. Well done by all involved. What was your reaction?

This shouldn't have worked...but boy it was delightful. The director, who made the PADDINGTON films, has this type of charming, funny, fantasy film down to a science! Never bet against this team of filmmakers.

Fun fact, all the chocolate in the movie was 100% real! They got a chocolatier to make all the chocolate you saw.

My son occasionally watches you guys with me, and he can never remember "The Appleton Oak." He's started calling him Apple Oatmeal 😂

Fun fact: you mentioned Prof. Umbridge and the man who plays the accountant is Jim Carter who is married to the actress who portrayed Prof Umbridge (Imelda Staunton)

You guys, why is no one talking about the sponsor video sequence? That's how you do it!

The underlying story of Wonka wanting to understand his mothers message about chocolate and help Noodle find her mother is absolutely beautiful, makes me teary eyed every time so glad to see you guys felt the same haha!

Timothée Chalamet absolutely KILLED IT in this role! I can't say I'm surprised, though. 💜

Yess!! Love to see reactors giving this movie a chance. It's a huge damn shame that the media didn't like this movie. It was great, imaginative, whimsical, and beautiful.
The Pure Imagination and the "It's The People You Share it With" get me every- single- time.

This is 100% a sleeper hit, and also 100% now going to be a family classic to watch. It's so good and fun, and somehow the marketing really did drop the ball, a bit. The trailer did give hints to it, but I think in part we're so used to cash grab sequels and prequels that we just shrugged it off. What they should've done was properly screen it so that the critics would've raved about it and then market as to how good the reception was. This movie was top tier, and I didn't expect it at all.

Just wanted to point out that Timothee Chalamet was the young son in Interstellar that nearly drove off the cliff, so you've seen him in that as well.

To be honest I did not want to see this movie but I did because of all of you and I found myself surprised at the end, with tears in my eyes because of that ending with the girl and Wonka. Amazing reaction guys!

@trei1658 2 years ago

Wonka was definitely the sleeper hit of the 2023 Christmas season an currently stands at a $632M WW box office and #7 highest grossing films of 2023. It was really the little movie that could.

I love how World of Pure Imagination pushes every reactor to the edge of tears. Everyone grew up with the 1971 film, and they have their heartstrings pulled on with that song.

Guys you have no idea how quickly this became one of my favourite movies. There’s so much hope and love and nostalgia in it and you can tell everyone poured their heart into the movie ❤ I listened to the music daily for months and I’m still not tired of it, humming ‘pure imagination’ and ‘a hatful of dreams’ all the time. I couldn’t stop the tears when Willy turned the golden ticket around and it said ‘it’s the people we share it with’, love the message and was watching the movie in the cinema with my sister and my best friend and we snuck chocolate in and shared it with each other, it was so perfect I couldn’t stop crying 😃 I went to see it twice in the cinema and both times I left the theatre with a grin on my face and a skip in my step, dancing through the rain on the sidewalk. It’s magical ✨ sorry for the long message 😃

@brandismith2968 2 years ago

My head cannon is that Wonka and the Weasley's are distant relations. Wonka does say he is a magician.

mason killing me in that sponsor ad🤣🤣good work guys thats how you promote a sponsor

There's a reason Timothee Chalamet's star has risen so fast. He really is an incredibly talented actor... but he's not your traditional movie star handsome, so I think it's easy for people to overlook his skill when they think of today's movie stars. He was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Call Me By Your Name.... I'd be real curious to see what you guys think of that one, particularly his performance in it.
