After nearly 2 years as a UK medical cannabis patient, I wanted to share the biggest mistakes I made when I first got my prescription and the things I wish somebody explained to me at the beginning.

When I first joined a medical cannabis clinic in the UK, I thought THC percentage was one of the most important things to look for. Like many new patients, I assumed higher THC meant stronger effects and automatically meant a better product.

But after trying different medical cannabis flowers, learning about terpene profiles, cannabinoids, genetics, cultivation methods and speaking with thousands of UK patients through the Smokie McGreen community, I quickly realised there is much more to medical cannabis than just chasing numbers.

Medical cannabis has changed massively in the UK since becoming legal in 2018, and patient choice continues to grow every year. But more choice also means more questions.

There are now many different medical cannabis clinics, pharmacies, growers and products available, which can make things overwhelming when you are first starting your journey.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that there is no single “best strain” or perfect option for everyone. Every patient is different, and learning what works for you is one of the most important parts of being a medical cannabis patient.

I’ll admit it… I got a few things wrong when I first became a medical cannabis patient 😂

I chased THC %, thought higher prices automatically meant better, and definitely underestimated how much there was to learn.

But that’s all part of the journey 🤟

Given how the uk government has still taken no real step to legalise it and purely focused on the money I'd say the 'patients' have actually been ginnpigs the whole time.. I would try it if the laws around it didn't clash so much.. they only did it to profit off nations that actually legalised it!! :(

Biggest problem I experience is that stock levels aren't consistent, so you find something you like and works well, then you go to reorder it's out of stock :(

I have to admit, it took me a while before I realised this as well. I started with the cheap prices and worked at a higher price, and sometimes wondered why the cheaper was feeling better than the more expensive products, and also the percentage on them. It is a learning curve, but eventually I got there and now know which products to get that help me much better. Thank you also for this vid, and keep up the great work, Peace 😎🤟

I'm pretty much where you are now. I've been guilty of that sure, but theres so much more to it. I knew that but I still chased % at first. I just want something that works, I dont care if it cheap, dear, indica, sativa whatever now. There is no best one - all about what works for you. Good job. Really appreciate what you do bro

Ah mate, I’m a bit of a geek so totally got into the terpenes profiles and temps after getting onto medical. I vape some of the lowest thc bud now. I don’t even think about Indica vs Sativa. Keep up the good work dude.

Transparency about gamma, beta and non irradiated flower. The differences in quality, treatment and how it affects product needs to be made clear especially to UK medical patients. This is an area which is never properly explained especially to new and current patients. Why are certain flowers chosen for this treatment and others not. As UK patients we should be made aware of all choices.

Been at it nearly 30 yrs and the last 3 months prescribed has been a huge eye opener, I thought I knew what was right for me, it got me over some problems but came with problems of its own that I did not notice because I was just happy it dealt with 1 issue

Bang on mate , had from 17% right up to 30% . Always Varys 👌. Had a 20% that’s out performed a 30%. The only pain nowadays is choice …..as in there’s toooo much 😂😂😂❤

Cheers Smokie, a great watch and so very true, CBD and CBN can be game changing too mixed in the right ratios with script flower... a pinch of cbd flower or hash transforms some medi strains!
