There are always some incredibly bizarre creatures on Earth, and hornbills are definitely one of them. The Malayan hornbill, in particular, is the national bird of Malaysia, appearing on the back of the RM5 banknote! But what is the purpose of those huge, mysterious protrusions? Scientists are baffled! The helmeted hornbill's casque is known as hornbill ivory, and why has it been so highly sought after since ancient times? It's even worth five times more than ivory on the black market! And because of this, the helmeted hornbill is one of the most endangered bird species in the world! Furthermore, the hornbill's behavior is also astonishing; the male will seal the female in a tree hole for months at a time! This amazing reproductive strategy is extremely rare in the entire animal kingdom…
