He Told David Gilmour "You Can't Afford This" — But Carlos Santana Was Standing Right Behind Him
The calendar read November 22, 2012
In the heart of Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, a chance encounter at a high-end guitar boutique turned into a legendary moment in rock history. While Carlos Santana was in the VIP room finalizing a custom PRS, he noticed a man in a plain black t-shirt being turned away by a salesman who thought he couldn't afford a Fender Stratocaster. That "ordinary" man was actually David Gilmour, looking for birthday gifts for his daughters. What happened next, when Santana stepped out and handed Gilmour that blue Strat, is a story about the true soul of music that every guitar lover needs to hear. 🎸✨
