Sir, you are underestimating how many of us would happily watch a five hour video on this build

Not checking the weather when driving a glorified Chernobyl reactor is ballsy.

"Not one, not three, but TWO!

This video will be released in not one, not three, but TWO PARTS

I love this video, it proves that car guys aren’t going to stop doing car guy things just because the power supply is electric instead of combustion.

You say its lame doing the cannonball run in a rental but there was a guy who rented a mustang, outfitted it with a second tank in the trunk, ran the cannonball in a little over 24 hours then removed the tank and tried returning the car in California the next day.

He got flagged trying to return it because the system thought it was suspicious that he was returning a rental on the other side of the country in less time than it should take to drive that distance.

I'm so glad they got you to film this.  It is always very difficult to give a great story with something that could be explained in a very technical way.  I cannot wait till part 2.

that middle-of-the-night testing with all the clunky wiring and stuff poking out of the truck gives major Back to the Future vibes

My dad had an electric converted ford back in the late 90s/early 00s. I think it was a taurus? He spent about an hour nearly every day after picking me up from school balancing the batteries (regular car batteries, probably secondhand) manually by connecting and disconnecting each one from the charger. That car was able to get us home on a full charge (16 miles up a mountain), but just barely, and only if the weather was right, and with a maximum of one adult in the vehicle, and only with my dad constantly adjusting a dial in the center console (I don't remember what it did). I don't know a lot about electricity, but this video brought back some of those memories.

This is such a cool project, I’ve been waiting for someone to take the EV record seriously and I think you’re going to break it. Can’t wait for part 2!

11:00 You've missed the most important thing here.
With 310kWh capacity, that Rivian can output 1.21GW for almost one second.
So you could arrive at the Portofino Hotel before you left the Red Ball Garage!

A modern EV project featuring a vehicle people have actually heard of?  On Aging Wheels?
🤣👍

Nice to see our ADVANTICS power converters put into a good use :)

Ryan: "We have to document this attempt, but it's just a car full of nerds in badly fitting clothes with loads of experimental tech and engineering talk!"
Zen Master: "There is only one man who could make that entertaining..."

I love how this is a quasi official Rivian project... In the same sense that they show up at the HQ, get technical support but also they have to stress they're not officially helping.

the rolling fields, with rows of wrecked cars far off into the distance, and cows peacefully grazing between them, is such a nice visual

The most impressive part of this project is that you have a fully functional Gen1 power tonneau cover.

As a French I appreciate the conversion of hours in metric 👍

there's a problem with planning when the only support vehicle is running alongside the attempt vehicle with much worse stats.
