Nier is an action role-playing game released for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Possibly one of the saddest RPGs made, with a ray of hope injected in the remaster released in 2021. Underneath it all, Nier Replicant / Gestalt holds a truly heartbreaking and complex story buried beneath a large run time, several new game plusses and servicable gameplay. The story and characters are what do it for me, Hence why I'll be deep diving into in this video.

What a video. I played the game a while ago and forgot many aspects of it, but getting such an explanation from a different light was such a satisfying experience. I can't even believe it was free. Thank you for the video. I know it took a lot of prep to make, and you sure, as HELL deserve that subscribe. ❤

I have heard a convincing argument why the game is forcing you to play act 2 so many times. Considering the message of the game, confirmed by Yoko Taro, was to think about using violence as a default conflict resolution method in games by tricking you to do atrocities while thinking that you are a good guy. Now, in later runs you know a hidden cost of your actions, but still have to repeat them over and over again... It really doubles down on a lesson it wants to convey, and ensures that you painfully feel it all the way through.

I agree yeah it's the saddest rpg probably. The only two contenders I can think of are slightly cheating; FF14 (except it's an MMO updated over years which most games don't get that level of content) and Lost Odyssey (mainly only because of the 1000 Years of Dreams stories).

Thank you very much for making a vid about this game. It's talked about a lot, but I feel Automata gets more spotlight, but a lot of people feel close to this one too.

I really hope you do play Automata, it's more than a worthy follow up to it's predecessor in both story and gameplay and I'd love to see you do a video on it someday.
