I remember back when I was a kid, every single school day when I walked to the bus stop, one of the neighborhood cats would be waiting for me and my friends at the corner, would walk with us all the way to the bus stop and sit with us there until the bus got there. She did that every school day for all three years of middle school, and then did the same thing when my brother and his friends were in middle school.

She died over a decade ago, but that cat was the best buddy of all the neighborhood kids.
