Thanks you SO much!! I used your advice to service my Panasonic NV DA1 as these are almost identical devices. I've been thwarted by an F05 error message which prevented playback and had more or less given up, but now it's working again! Cheers - Dean

after try cleaning, mines doesn’t want to record anymore, what should I do? Nothing seems broken tho

Thanks for this guide.

I’ve just bought a TRV900 that looks to be in perfect condition for $50. Apparently someone threw it away at a recycling point… crazy. It has the 31:40 error, so as soon as I get it I’ll clean it and check whether the pitch roller is OK. Hopefully I’ll be lucky.

Will this method work with a Panasonic pv-dv52?

Does this method also works in Digital8 camcorders? Cuz it happens the same thing to me after not using in a month...

LOL. My Sony camcorder was playing, but there was a lot of static/snow on the screen on play back. I had cleaned in about 2 weeks ago with Isopropyl alcohol and a lint free cleaning tip for electronics. After I did that the picture was clear, but the colors were split. Part of the screen was B&W, part was yellow, part was magenta and the other 4th was cyan.
So I watch this video and use the folded paper trick with Isopropyl alcohol. I let the machine dry for at least 10 minutes. Now I have no picture at all except for once and awhile some lines. I have tried multiple tapes that worked prior to the cleaning with folder paper, with no luck. I have quadruple checked to be sure that I had all the settings in the correct position.
What did I mess up? I am sad.

Thank you. Following your directions I have my DCR-TRV330, that hasn't been used for over 20 years, now working.

매우 유익한 정보입니다.

Thank You for This! I used 91% IPA and some Paper as you recommended (I don't have the cleaner you had) and my DCR-TRV900 is working again. This really helped!

so my issue is, I have a canon es900 or 970a and the cassette sits in it but it will not close and read the cassette. But when there nothing in it, it has no problem going down and just closing.

Omg this actually worked well for me I have a Sony TRV22 and was from Japan great condition and was using it for a week for old mini dv, as I was converting it suddenly it went blue but nothing played back so I saw this guide on cleaning and save me maybe 100$ up in repair maybe thanks

Would you know the problem for my canon GL1, it makes a loud noise when a mini DV tape is in the camera?
Would it be the drum?
Thanks!

Hey guys, my Panasonic NV-GS500 does not run the cleaning tape. The time laps remains unchanged.
The camera does actually reads  recorded tapes (badly, with stripes)

Ok people, i need help, so i have an old sharp viewcan vl-z7, and i tried to clean it using another video i found, but looks like i did something wrong, and now my camera eats my cassettes, it makes noises, the system tells me to eject the cassette, and whenever i insert a cassette, it pulls it out and ruins it, then when i remove it, the head drum keeps spinning until it spins out, instead of stopping immediately, idk what to do, please help me everyone

So did you create the Dr. Cassette music at the beginning or is it public domain or licensed for this use or something like that?

How do you unstick the mechanical tape holder/ reader when the door itself opens but the mechanism doesnt?

Thanks this got mine working

jvc gr-d370u code 6 telling me to replace battery and charger...still wont work

Thanks for this. It worked on my Samsung V80d Mini DV camcorder. As well as the paper technique, I also used a tepe dental brush which had a long handle to clean the head drum. And I didn’t have the video spray so I used mentholated spirit.

Keep at it guys.
