Day 1 of your Beppu itinerary kicks off with a tour of the Beppu Hot Spring Hells! Get a common admission pass and visit the seven iconic hells: Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell), Oniishibozu Jigoku (Shaven Monk’s Head Hell), Kamado Jigoku (Cooking Pot Hell), Oniyama Jigoku (Monster Mountain Hell), Shiraike Jigoku (White Pond Hell), Chinoike Jigoku (Blood Pond Hell), and Tatsumaki Jigoku (Tornado Hell). Each hell has its own unique character, and some even offer free foot baths. Don't miss the hugely popular Jigoku Mushi Kobo Kannawa, where you can steam your own ingredients and enjoy them fresh on the spot.
Day 2, take the Beppu Ropeway up to the summit of Mount Tsurumi. The panoramic view of Beppu from 1,300 meters above sea level is truly breathtaking! In the evening, head to a cozy izakaya (Seafood Izakaya Sakanaya Dojo - Beppu Station East Exit) with excellent value for money.
Day 3, drive 45 minutes to Yufuin. Stroll along Yunotsubo Street, savor local snacks, snap photos at the charming Yufuin Floral Village, and be sure to stop by Lake Kinrin to see the mist and Tensha Shrine along the way!
