Fixed!! Craftsman 6.75 Gold wouldn’t start after sitting for winter

This Craftsman 6.75 Gold (917.370432) with Briggs and Stratton engine was given to me for free because it would not start. It was running fine the year before, but when they pulled it out to mow for the first time this year, it wouldn’t start. Watch me clean the carburetor and diagnose the issue to get it fixed and running great!

Same issue with my neighbor's. Not getting fuel. I was able to just pull the bowl off, clean that out and it started up perfectly. There was some jelly/fuzzy stuff in the bowl. After 1 year sitting not running. They should have a fuel shutoff into the line and advise people run it dry after use. You are right it is a simple carb, and the automatic choke feature I thought was pretty cool. The gaskets for the bowl did not need replacing either. Yours looked a bit dirtier than mine so your efforts were probably needed vs the one I have.

I like seeing your whole process on what to check and seeing how to get to each area.

Great video, gave me some good pointers on how to clean my carb out. Not my mower is starting and running like a champ!

Good strong shopvac needed or shop air. Should have had the shroud/blower housing removed for grass and/or mouse nest removal.

So it's really true that those flat panel air filters will allow dirt to bypass around and behind the border rubber when they are allowed to get plugged with dirt. So in regular use they generally need to be replaced at the end of each year season. Honda GCV the same way, maybe even the same filter.

I literally put on a new carb. Spark is good. Drained old gas and got new fresh gas in.. this crap wont go..
What else could be wrong with it?

I cleaned the carburetor and no start, replaced carburetor with a new one and no start. What’s the issue? Is there a gasket between the carb and engine? I know there’s on between carburetor and air filter
