How did a Chole Bhature restaurant that was almost shutting down become a ₹2 crore-a-month business in Mumbai?
In this episode of PINKVILLA BIZ, we go inside Delhi Se, the Mumbai restaurant founded by brothers Jaspal Singh and Mahendra Singh with one simple idea — bring the authentic taste of Delhi-style Chole Bhature to Mumbai.
The journey, however, was far from easy. After starting the restaurant in 2021, the business struggled so badly that by September 2022, the brothers were preparing to shut it down. Their last savings had been invested into the business, and they were even considering using the remaining money for expenses related to an upcoming wedding.
Then everything changed.
After comedian Abhishek Upmanyu visited Delhi Se and spoke about its Chole Bhature, the restaurant suddenly started seeing a surge in walk-ins. Soon after, a Chole Bhature order from Anushka Sharma’s home led to one of the most unexpected moments in their journey — a call revealing that the food was being ordered for Virat Kohli.
What followed was a massive rush of customers, nonstop calls and queues outside the restaurant. At one point, the team went from making just a few kilos of Chole to 100 kg in a day within three days.
In this episode, we explore:
• How Delhi Se was started in Mumbai
• Why the brothers wanted to bring Delhi-style Chole Bhature to Mumbai
• The story of almost shutting down the restaurant
• How Abhishek Upmanyu’s visit changed the business
• The unexpected Virat Kohli & Anushka Sharma connection
• How one Chole Bhature order triggered massive demand

Today, Delhi Se serves around 5,000 plates of Chole Bhature every day, with approximately 125 kg of Chole sold daily across its four outlets.
From almost shutting down to building a multi-outlet business, this is the story of Delhi Se, its founders, its Chole Bhature and the unexpected moments that changed everything.
